Pre-race routine:

Woke at 4am, ate some fruit and V8 juice. Met my friends at 5:15 and walked to the start venue.
Event warmup:

Slow jog for 10 minutes.

Comments:

Running with so many people at the start was pretty trippy (literally and figuratively!) Was feeling really good up until mile 8 when I started to struggle a bit. I could really tell that my longest run in training had been 10 miles! Unfortunately, the 10 mile mark in the race was right at the base of the climb back over the bridge on the return to Taipa. The last 3 miles were painful! Overall, very happy with my run though. Watching the lead guys in the full marathon (winner was 2:17) was very impressive.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.

Warm down:

Slow walk around the stadium, easy stretch.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

More training, particularly long runs.

Event comments:

I really wasn't fully trained for this race and got it in mostly as a benchmark for the future and to get some racing experience.
