Swim
Comments: This was my best 500 yard swim to date! I didn't have to wait for anyone to move out of the way and noone caught up to me. I just paced nicely behind the guy in front of me. He was exactly the same pace as I was. We passe one of the ladies at about lap 8. Had to swipe your timing chip that was on your wrist over a machine. Kind of like a checkout counter at the grocery store. I order a steak and some potatoes! HEEhEE. Then you had to swipe it again after getting oout of the pool. What would you do differently?: Nothing! This was a great swim for me. Transition 1
Comments: T1 was included with the whole bike ride, so I am guessing about 45 seconds. My shirt got caugth on my wet back and a guy had to help me pull it down. I know I'm not supposed to put on a shirt when wet, but it was freakin cold out! What would you do differently?: Dry off better. I did dry off on the way out of the pool but it didn't help. Bike
Comments: Like I said, this was not a great bike but I was still 7th overall, so that was good. What would you do differently?: Do more training on the bike, duh! Transition 2
Comments: T2 was part of the run time as well. So I am guessing on this too. I am usually below 30 seconds on t2, however I was all the way at the other end at this race so I added 10 seconds. What would you do differently?: nothing. Run
Comments: The run was very good. I am guessing on my time here. My time for T2 and the run was 21:25 and that put my at 6:11 pace. So if I put down 21 that being I had a 25 second transition I come up with 6 minute miles. I think my time was actually a bit faster but I am ok with that as a PR for a pace! I am super happy about that. I did feel very strong on the run. I was never passed by anyone, not even Cam Widoff, who was there racing. What would you do differently?: Nothing! Post race
Warm down: Walked around and found my wife who also raced and raced well. She was 18 overall females and had personal bests in all events! Hooray Shel! Ate some food and waited for awards. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough LT training on the bike. My base is fine, now on to fast stuff. Event comments: It was a great first of the year race! The goody bag included a Camelback Catalyst (faney pack style). This was very cool, it was there 25th anniversary! I also got on the podium in my age group so instead of medals or trophies they gave out stuff. I won a certificate and one of those hand held water bottles with the strap! I really had a good time doing this with my wife. This was her second tri ever! Last updated: 2005-05-02 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4 A.M. to eat breakfast. Packed the kids and my wife in the car and off we went. About a 45 minute drive.
Ran about 1.5 miles and swam about 200 yards right before the swim. Didn't have time to bike. Meet some people and set up transition. I had a nice big area, so I used it.
