Swim
Comments: Well, it was a good workout, but I went out too hard on the swim anticipating 600 meters, so was worn out a bit towards the end. What would you do differently?: Trusted my instincts that something was wrong with the buoy and turned around sooner. Was afraid to get penalized so just kept swimming. Might have made it all the way back to New Orleans! Transition 1
Comments: Felt a little off kilter starting the bike. Still did not know why the swim took me 35 minutes. Did not yet realize the buoy had moved. Thought I had gotten off course and was swimming towards a second buoy further out, so I was cursing myself a bit. What would you do differently?: Nothing considering the circumstances Bike
Comments: Still have a tendency to go out too hard on the bike. Want to get as many people behind me as possible early on. What would you do differently?: Need to work on power and speed on the bike. Still don't feel as strong as other cyclists. Transition 2
Comments: Feel okay with T2 What would you do differently?: Starting to leave T2 without camelback waist pack which had race number on it. Need to be more careful - put it on top of running shoes so I cannot overlook it. Run
Comments: Suprised I was able to run most of the way. Had to walk a bit in the beginning to warm up and stretch calf muscles, but otherwise legs were good. What would you do differently?: Nothing during the race. Just need to build up endurance and keep with my run traning program. Post race
Warm down: Drank recovery drink, ate banana and red beans. Stretched calf muscles a bit. Cheered for Abitakids race since we could not get out of the parking lot until they were finished. What limited your ability to perform faster: Still not 100% on the run, but legs are cooperating. Just need to keep training at a slow pace. Also still possibly recovering from Nokia last weekend. Quads a tiny bit tired on the bike so I felt a slight loss of power. And then the swim. What more can I say? Event comments: Had to rate the race a "2" due to problems with buoy and not posting my results online until I e-mailed them. Otherwise it was an enjoyable day racing with Rob and I was glad to get some traning time in and to have met Manatee Express (Ken) and his wife Marcy. They were very nice.
