Rollin' Thunder - 2005-06-24 9:20 AM  Tania, Because you got so down on my boys, why don't you increase your goal? I honestly don't think you sandbagged when you set you goal. But wouldn't increasing that goal so that it could continue to push you through the end of the month be the sporting thing to do? Mike

Yeah, Rollin', right after Doughboy, bear, Madcow and Jnarenki raise theirs....

Edit: I started this post right after Rollin' first posted this, then someone came to talk to me.... Don't mean to inflame things any further, but whaetever. Smack is smack!

Tania - 2005-06-24 8:35 AM Hey Goddesses - because the Boneheads are droning ON and ON and ON and ON about sandbagging, and whining about the (hand to forehead) UNFAIRNESS of it all.....I'll take the 'recommendation' of one ever so helpful Tbone and check back with my sister Goddesses. Do you think I am sandbagging and being unfair if I don't raise my goal? I never in a million thought that I would ride my bike this much after only doing 201 last month, or I would have set it higher to begin with. Should I go for 500? My only fear is some kind of hideous equipment malfunction on my century tomorrow, but that can't really be controlled. I'll take your recommendations.

Took the ever so helpful recommendation of checking back with the Goddesses.  No upping of the goal necessary.  My team supports me.  I dont' need any additional pushing, I'm quite capable already, thanks.

Rollin' Thunder - 2005-06-24 11:43 AM Renee, I am not questioning honor. My point is if you are going to come in here and your smack talk gets to the level where one of your team members is calling out one of our team members because she has ridden more miles than he has, she is going to get called on it. For her to go back to your thread and claim we are picking on her, please... Point of fact -- I do not think Tania set her goal too low. I believe her when she says she is achieving new heights in cycling because of the challenge. I have stated that on this thread. All I am saying is if she wants to compare apples to apples, she should compare percentages because we are all at different levels, yada, yada. And if she wants to continue to be challenged by goals, she should reevaluate hers and increase it. If not, so be it. I am not really worried about what percentage of goal she achieves and I hope she does well. Mike

I did not say you were picking on me, I'm the one who came into the clubhouse, why would I say YOU were picking on ME?  What I said was I keep hearing  the sandbagging word - how is that not true?  And then, because I am truly NOT trying to be unsporting,  I went to talk to the Goddess about it, because I thought if that really was the concensus, maybe they felt the same way.  I am not down on any of the boners, I'm just poking the nest, please don't keep taking me so seriously.

max - 2005-06-24 11:59 AM Well the whole point of it all is to get everyone to ride...and that's being accomplished. I'd happily lose if it means you all are being pushed to do more than you would otherwise. Besides, I'm saving my "secret weapon" for the final week!

Wasn't trying to insult you or anything, max - hope you did not take it that way - just playing around.  Ummm.....are weapons allowed?

Tania,

Seriously, good luck. I hope you blow the top off of your goal, er...It is impressive when you can increase your milage by so much in one month. Keep on truckin' -- your team needs you.

Tania, none taken! I've been laughing along with the rest! Trust me, I take losing in stride. When you watch all the 25 year old women pass you on the bike, you become philosophical. Plus I get pretty good at using "old age" as a crutch for not doing well.

Of course weapons are allowed...all's fair in love, war, and thrashing the opposite sex!

Tim - that's one of the funniest "cheers" I think I've ever seen/heard. Forget Team Testosterbones. For the rest of the challenge we're the Beer Runners and you're the mascot!

Quick ride tonight - me vs. daylight. Daylight won. I still got in 16 instead of 26 so I'm at 140/150.  Now I'm going for my B double E double R U N!!

scuba-punk - 2005-06-24 10:16 AM Sorry I've been slacking off this week guys, but Wifey and her paperwork have been demanding plenty of my time The "dreaded" sister-in-law is in town this weekend, so I'll be able to break away and get some miles over the next few days -Frank

Frank, you pay attention to what is really important.  We've got your back on the Bike Challenge.  I plan on having cupcakes for lunch next Friday and I hope all the Testosterbone's join me.

You can tell the girlies are getting worried.  Instead of being satisfied getting on one another's asses, they're coming over here and stirring up our thread.  Like they always say, if mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.

It'll be good to get this challenge over with.  Once we've spanked their cute li'l bottoms, then, we'll all make up and be buddies again.  After all, they are sexy little cupcakes, aren't they?.

Tim - that's one of the funniest "cheers" I think I've ever seen/heard.

I think so, too, but I can't take credit for it. It's a song by that comedian whatshisname that's a regular on the Bob & Tom radio show.

I just have to say that after I read that cheer I am so proud to be a "Boner"!  Go team go!

By the way, how do we actually know who wins this crazy challenge?  Is it by overall miles or by percentage or something else?

put in 27.7 today which puts me at 381 of the original goal of 350. I really struggled today and I have no idea why. I can't remember the last bike ride that I felt so bad on. I race 11.2 miles in a duathlon tomorrow and may ride a little after. 420 seems reachable.

Hit my goal today. I am planning on getting into the 125% club with the rest of ya'll by Thursday. My wife is out of town at a conference next week so I hired a babysitter to watch my boy after he has gone to bed to make sure I get my milage in.

I am such a great dad.
