My wife and I just entered our first Tri and before we invest too much money into it we would like to use the resources we already have available. We both currently own mountain bikes and I've explored the issue of using slick tires. Has anyone else done this? If so, do you have any particular recommendations as to what exactley I should use? **95 days and counting**

Yes, lots of people do this. Use whatever slicks your bike shop has at a reasonable price. Slicks make a huge difference. go with 1.5's or narrower. Pump them to the max presssure (or a little more)

I'm right there w/ ya!!! I plan on using my mtb for this season while I save some cash to buy a tri bike next year.

As for what kind of tire to use, I would suggest Continental tires if you can find some, but just about any smooth tire will work. Might check out Performance Bike: http://www.performancebike.com/shop/sub_cat.cfm?subcategory_id=5430

Good luck!
