BIG NEWS!!!!

Not sure if everyone has seen it yet but they changed the swim from the two loop course of the past to a ONE LOOP swim!!!  So no run in the middle of the swim...

And I go off at 7:08 (M35-39 and 45-49)---third wave!!!

I saw this in the email.  I presume this means that the course has changed and it is now one long loop rather than half the distance (e.g. we're still swimming 1.2 miles, just a different way), yes?

Wave six at 7:20 for the old fat guy ;-)  Fortunately, the math will be easier for calculating my time... unfortunately, the course will be rather lonely at 7 hours... lol.

Yeah the course map still shows a "triangle" just with much longer sides out/back....so 1.2 without the "break"

It cracks me up that there are so many fellow 'mid-life-crisis' dudes in this race that the M40-44 age group needs its own wave Undecided

I still get a kick out of the fact that the 40-44 male is the second fastest age group out there. I would have thunk it would be the kids but apparently not.

30% chance. Let's hope it's some OTHER 30% of the area that gets the rain

Skippy74 - 2010-04-20 10:18 PM Stu---I have an Xterra and they make a good wetsuit (especially for the price!!) BUT I definitely recommend even a quick swim before the race (even if in the pool) just to see how it fits---or wear it might rub...

Well I'll be driving down the morning of the race so I'll be there early (have to do packet pick-up also...) so we could just pick a time and meet on the corner of the beach near the water---right where you come out of the water at the end of the swim/near where you enter transition from the swim...

And the 12:30 finish for everyone was just some positive thoughts (I guess I should have said 11:30 so that everyone understood that I meant we would all be in the mix for an overall winWink)!!!!  I just hope everyone enjoys the day and is happy with their results...

Skippy and any other BTers... do you want to meet right after the course briefing at the transition out of the swim for a quick pep rally?  In any case, you all see my pic and I'm about 6'4"... my wife is actually thinking about coming (maybe toward the end)... so you can look for both of us.  Look forward to meeting all of you and good luck to everyone!!

Sounds good---if transition is set up the same way as last year then the where you enter from the swim/exit for the run is right at the sidewalk (if you look at the run course) leading to the water....meet there after the morning briefing---should give everyone time to walk across the beach before their wave starts...

Let's hope the thunderstorms don't happenUndecided

Does anyone know about the water hand offs on the bike?  I was reading through the race information and I wasnt sure how that worked.  Is it really a hand off, like in the run?  Or do you actually stop?  And do you bring your own additional water bottles?

I probably should have read through the race info earlier than this.  Thanks for any help.

Last year they used Hammer bike bottles (so fit in regular cages...)--they had people along the road to hand off water or Heed (if I remember it was 3 folks with Heed followed by 3 with water)...just point to the person that you are going to grab the bottle from---some will kinda run along with you some just stand there---so slow down to a speed that YOU are comfortable with (keep in mind they get scared too if you going pretty fast...) OR you can just stop and get what you want/need (just make sure nobody is right behind you and kinda pull off the road (they were in spots with a good shoulder).  There is a drop zone at the stops too---just toss your old bottle (so if you start with one of your own make sure it's not your favorite because you won't get it back!!) and grab a new one---in the past I've even just started with a regular store (7-11) sports top bottle of Deer Park in my cage and when I tossed it I obviously didn't care...
