Subject: New to tri - from Alberta, Canada Hello all! I am completely new to the idea of doing a tri and I am slightly surprised at how fast and hard the tri bug has bit me! I am not particularly good at any of the three sports but I think hard work and determination can get me through this I have been running off an on with my treadmill for the last year and I enjoy a nice bike ride with the kids and pulling a trailer behind me. I am currently in training to run a 10k (March ) and then a half marathon (May ) and then will do the ride to conquer cancer 200k (June ) I'm starting swimming lessons in a few weeks as my 2011 goals include trying a tri. So...about me: fulltime work, fulltime student and a mom to 2 kids in hockey. I don't let being busy deter me from training because there will always be obstacles in real life. I fit training in the early mornings, while kids are at hockey practice, in my office during my lunch hour and anywhere else I can squeeze it in. I am slightly overweight but even once I reach goal I think I will be in the Athena cat because of my height. I will never be fast - I just hope to finish! I'm looking forward to reading all the information on this site and getting to know you all. Happy New Years! |
