Subject: Forward Seat post on a women road bike
I recently purchased a profile design fast forward seatpost for my wifes road bike. The problem is that with the post all the way down to the bend in the tube, it is still 3/4 inch to tall. Has anyone ever encountered this and if so what did you do? Any suggestions is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Matt

She really needs to have a professional bike fitting done with the new seatpost (even if she's had one done before, since the seatpost changes the geometry of the bike, and to achieve a good triathlon geometry--which is what this seatpost is meant to assist with--you really really need an experienced triathlon bike fitter). If the bike is the right size for her, it should be able to accommodate the seatpost without it being too high. But again, an experienced triathlon bike fitter is the one who should be helping you with this.

Does your wife's bike have a horizontal (i.e., old school) top tube? Did you get the carbon Fast Forward from PD? If so, you may have a problem. The carbon FF was designed to be used with a sloping top tube and have more seat tube sticking out. I run a carbon FF on my 1989 Klein Quantum with a horizontal top tube and the seat is almost all the way down.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any cure other than to go back to the straight seatpost and slide the seat as far forward as you can. Alternatively, a new bike may be in her future

Here is a pic of my Klein if that helps. www.elbrasil.com/jpgfiles/klein.jpg
