Sprint_DA - 2010-06-04 7:55 AM Hey everyone, I'm finally in for sure.  My transfer from last year went through, and I've been promised the time off work.  Should be good times.

You gonna stay at my place, Dan?

If that's ok with you I would definitely appreciate it.

Invitation is always open.  My 15 yo daughter is racing Saturday morning.

Awesome! What's the distance for her race?  We're gearing up here for the Hy-Vee kids tri in Bettendorf.  We fit a younger girl to a P2 the other day. I've got to work until Sat afternoon, so I'm angling to catch the last packet pickup/pre-race briefing.

Swim 400, Bike 10k, run 2.5k

Very nice.  Hope she enjoys it!  Is it her first tri?

Yep.  She is a little nervous about the swim - not so much the distance as the being 100 yards out in a lake.

LOL!  I KNOW!  My friend is struggling to get the video from her Droid onto YouTube.

Please tell me you weren't wearing any Triathlons for Transplants gear at the time.

only a few days left people and i am having a difficult time concentrating.  i think this is going to be a blast.

safe travel for everyone and let's all have a great time this weekend.

if you see a guy in a green javelin suit, give him a high five.  it may not be me, but high fives are awesome all around, right?

good luck everybody

I thought I saw before on the Hy-Vee tri website that we are supposed to drop bikes off Saturday after our briefing/packet pick-up.  Anyone know if this is still the case?

I have that really nervous/excited feeling, and can't believe it's only a few days away.

BTW if you see a guy in an orange javelin suit (barrowed from Noz) pick him up and carry him to the finish.

Well, if you see a gal in an gold T-shirt with "volunteer" printed on it at the corner of 35th and Grand, don't turn off the course there. It would make me look bad.

Swim update. Went to the practice swim this morning and there was a sign up at the waiver table stating water temp was 76 degrees. With the coming days' high temps forecasted in the high 80s, I'm not hopeful for a wetsuit swim.

The good news is that the site is already looking great. Tons of volunteers putting up the blue barriers, and most of the stands and tents are already up. Let's hope for good weather, 'cause it'll be a great race.

Here is a link that has the athlete handbook.  It has a bunch of hotels listed in it.  I know that the Courtyard Marriott if full.

I would agree with you on those times. But I would make sure you get there in plenty of time to get ready. I'm starting at 6:14am I think. I plan on getting on the shuttle around 4:30 to 4:45am so I'm there by 5am. Check over my bike and setup my area with my shoes and food and what not. I want to be at the dock no later than 6am ready to go and zipped up.

I would agree about getting there as early as possible on race day. I think transition opens at 4 AM. I know that sounds early but you'll want to get there by 5 AM at the latest to get marked and get your area in transition set up. The time really goes fast and there's a lot of people there so there's a lot of waiting sometimes (for body marking, for bathrooms, for bike pumps, etc.).

Just remember my friend no body markings this year. Were all getting Tatoos with our packets so that can be done before hand.

Something else to remember - in the past, they closed the transition area at about 5:45. So you'll want to get there much earlier than that to get set up. Don't use your wave's start time as the planning point for your arrival. Use 6AM instead.

I'm sure they'll go over this in the pre-race briefings.
