Elite 2645 Phoenix, AZ | Subject: Timex readying GPS-equipped Ironman Global Trainer wristwatch A new GPS watch is entering the market. By the time it comes out in May, that'll be about $450 US. |

Expert 1706 NoVA | Subject: RE: Timex readying GPS-equipped Ironman Global Trainer wristwatch Hmmm I'm wondering about the displays---the one write up mentions 4 windows but that it's unknown what the options are---I'm specifically interested to see what it does with power (current watts, ave watts????)..........and at what price?! |

Pro 6767 the Alabama part of Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Timex readying GPS-equipped Ironman Global Trainer wristwatch But it isn't look water-resistant? The photo doesn't say WR on the face of the watch, and the write up says something about use on dry land. I would have upgraded my 305 for it, but instead, I will have to wait longer for the 310 to drop in price, or Timex to make it WR. So it's not really going to dent the 310 market if it isn't water resistant. It's funny, because I had the original first generation Body-link GPS system, which had several problems - it took a long time to find a signal, and you had to activate several devices (the GPS, the watch, and the extra option that you needed to link to the computer) in the correct order. If you messed up the sequencing, or any of the buttons got jostled on a run, you lost the data for that part of the run. But the watch was WR to 50 meters. That was the one thing I missed when I switched to the Garmin, which otherwise had a much simpler interface and ability to download to the computer. Edited by gearboy 2010-01-26 6:27 AM |

Expert 774 England | Subject: RE: Timex readying GPS-equipped Ironman Global Trainer wristwatch looks good to me - I have a Garmin 705 for my bike and its good enough to make me think of ditching my old Timex Ironman GPS unit, as I really dont like the GPS armband and its not nearly as reliable as the Garmin stuff appears to be. Trouble is I cant stand the 310 but it seems like the 405 isnt such a good replacement. This might be just what I'm after but will no doubt be pricey, and being in the UK I have 9 months to wait! |

If the price is right I would buy one...but not at $400! do you mainly train indoors? you only using HRM + time? i love the gps function, its absolutely fantastic for running. biking is biking, tracking your route isn't going to give you any more insight to training unless maybe the elevation part. i guess it depends, if you ever wanted to do speedwork by distance, gps doesn't tie you down to a track when running. |

Don't get me wrong, a gps running/cycling companion is really cool. But for me, I don't think it's necessarily going to make me run or ride faster. But if the price is right...I'll buy this new timex. |

Hello. My 800m interval session on bike path the other day would have been guesswork without GPS (205). I'd have to look pretty carefully at functionality before switching to this, but if it really is water-resistant and the battery life will get me through an IM (unlike what I've seen from the Garmin units), it might be worth it. I use my 50 lap Timex IM watch for swim splits now and put on my 205 in either T1 or T2, depending on the race...it'd be cool to have all the data for the day without fumbling with that. |

Elite 2645 Phoenix, AZ | Subject: RE: Timex readying GPS-equipped Ironman Global Trainer wristwatch I rely pretty heavily on my GPS watch (405) for my runs. I like to explore new areas, so it's beyond necessary. Also, the pace is useful when trying to hold a goal pace in a tempo run. I'm not big on HR training. |
