Wondering if any of you Athenas (or Clydes to) well, if your legs hit your belly when you are in aero position.  It's really annoying - especailly when sprinting.  It's like crazy jiggling.  I can't be the only one right?

Yup...my position is pretty aggressive, and my legs are really long.  Add to that some belly hang, and you've got the trifecta going...I love my spandex!!!

Was just noticing that today on my first outside ride with the new clip-ons....  I am thinking more riding and running = less belly to leg contact..... I hope!!!!Tongue out

Most definitely! I absolutely hate going aero with this belly I have. My legs hit my belly which cause me to splay my legs/knees to allow room for my gut. Also, curling into the aero seems to collapse my chest greatly reducing my lung capacity. I feel like I can't get a deep breath when I'm in the aero. The lack of proper breathing ability causes me to rarely ride in the aero but also motivates me to lose that gut!

Don't have aero bars, but it happens to me when I'm in the drops. Depressing, but motivating to lose the belly for sure.

First, I'm new to being aero too, so take this for what it might be worth..

In the beginning I had that same feeling of my chest collapsing and less lung capacity, is it possible you are not keeping your shoulders down?  It helps keep the chest a little more open.  I really had to focus on that in the beginning becasue my tendancy was to curl my shoulders forward and up.

Not sure. I always thought it was because when I'm aero I push my oversized gut inward and upward thus decreasing my lung volume. I try to stretch out my torso as much as I can but currently even that isn't enough. I've been much leaner in the past and didn't really have this issue so I think I'll be fine as long as I keep losing girth. Its already gotten a lot better since I started training in December. I've lost 20 lbs so far and according to my wife my belly is about 1/3 its former size.

Happens to me as well. I can't even get into the drops unless I'm out of the saddle. With my gut hanging down my legs splay out like me seat is too low....

I don't have a Tri Bike or aero-bars but yeah... in the drops it happens to me as well. Plus the fact I've lost SO much weight I have extra "droop". I don't even want to think about a tri-bike at this point partially because of this. Sigh.

Yes, happens to me too.  I've got a Ritchey "adjustable stem" that pulls the bullhorns up to help pull my belly up a couple inches.  I lose out on aero a bit, but comfort is better.  When the belly gets smaller, I can adjust the stem downward.

Yes, when I first got my tri bike it was belly flap central. Now that i've lost 30+ pounds, not so much. If you're fit right through the shoulders and with enough drop your chest shouldnt feel too constricted even with extra chub.

Yes  me too . But there are some advantages:  the extra weight will make you faster  on the downhill sections of the course  and warmer on those chilly mornings .

I don't think of it as a big gut but as a high-tech impact absorbing gel pad.

yep, I think unless you are totally lean you will have this issue. I definitely suffered from this for a few months when first riding aero.
