I just dawned on me.. will they even let us in the water prior to our wave starts to do a warm up if the full folks are still in the water?? Yikes. I really count on that warm-up to get rid of race jitters. Guess I need to have a plan B!

In Knoxville I left everything but my wetsuit, running shoes/socks and water/feed bottles the night before. If there is no chance of rain you could leave your shoes/socks too.

At least in K-town, there were "no garbage bag's" allowed to cover your stuff... so you may want to cover your computer / electronic stuff with zip locks.

Well, i'm a little late, but I just signed up for the half. I was planning on doing this race at the beginning of the season, but later chickened out of the big lake swim. Last weekend I raced in my first HIM race. I DNF'd due to a mechanical problem at mile 43 of the bike (blown tire....not tube, the side wall of the tire blew out). My goal this year has been to complete at least 1 HIM race. I can't finish this season and not complete my goal with all of the training i've put in, so here I am. There is another HIM race close to where I live this season, but water quaility issues may turn the race into a duathlon, so i'm not taking any chances.

I look forward to the experience and am glad i finally put my "big boy pants" on and finally signed up for the race. See you all soon!

Swim warmup is allowed prior to 8:30 first half wave start. We will direct you. There is room where you won't interfere with the full racers.

Transition closes at 7:20, not 7:30 so please plan accordingly. The only thing required to be left in transition Saturday is your bike. You will set up your area in the designated space next to your bike. All bike spaces will be arranged by number and every space will have its own name and number on it. When you pack up at the end of the day, please take your name plate with you. Its yours to keep and less for us to clean up

Happy Tapering....see you in 2 weeks!

Eric

Feeling good. I am registered for the HIM and it will be my longest distance yet. I have done the time and I know I can finish. Hoping to enjoy some taper next week and some less time on the saddle.

I will be getting into Sandusky mid afternoon on Friday.

Shipped bike out today, so I guess I'll be on the old MTB for 2 weeks. Shipping was actually less than I was expecting...now I just have to hope FedEx gets it there in 1 piece.

Any one know when we will get our bib numbers?? How about athlete tracking? Anyone watched a race live on the website?? If so, do we just send people to www.rev3tri.com  ? Also, I signed up for a Trakker GPS.. has anyone heard anything further about that? Glad the roads are smoothing out.. been riding lots on crappy roads in preparation, and been riding in as much wind as I can too! EWWWW so excited to get this going!!!

I posted this over on the full thread but thought I would put this over here too for anyone that has any questions about the Trakkers units:

Just wanted to give an update on the Trakkers units.   Please, please keep in mind that this is a new technology / new device and it is just as important (alright, much, much more important!) to Trakkers (the company) that they get their devices manufactured and out there on athletes as it is for the athletes that want to have the technology while racing.

When we began sign up (months ago) we had been promised a number of units from the manufacturer.   (Trakkers makes the technology but as with most devices the actual manufacturing is outsourced.)   The manufacturer did not come through with anywhere near the number of devices that were originally anticipated.  So, here's how the devices are handed out - Trakkers team members are given devices as it is part of their contract.  After that devices are handed out the the first ones to sign up for them.  They are free at the REV3 races and as soon as Trakkers has a full fleet of devices they will be available for rent for other races.

These are purely for an added bonus - they are not your timing for the race.  I will be one of the ones timing the race at Cedar Point and we will be working to have as many check points as possible out there.  I have raced and spectated iron distances races (and half iron!)  and I know how hard it is to watch / wait on someone out on the course.

I hope that helps, like I said as soon as the devices are in Trakkers hands they will get them in your hands at the races! Until then trust that REV3 has awesome timers : ) that will be taking care of you on race day.

I'm refusing to look until it actually means something. I'm focusing on what I can control right now and the weather doesn't fit into that. So that means I'm doing a lot of riding/running in all sorts of conditions! That's my plan anyway.. we'll see how it works!! 11 days!!! EWWWWWW!!!

After living in OH most of my life, the weather is never accurate in northern OH. One of the reasons I left.

Hey all - I posted this in the full thread and wanted to post it here, too:

I have a message from Eric at Rev3, who is working his butt off this week, of course.

"Please let everyone know that their questions will all be answered when they arrive on site.  Everything will be clear and it will all work out just fine.  We won't let anyone down."

Also, you can check the Athlete Guide, which is here in case it wasn't emailed to you:
http://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=2782580&msgid=244082&act=ZZO6&c=548893&destination=http%3A%2F%2Frev3tri.com%2Fpdfs%2FcedarPointProgramGuide%2Frev3_cp.pdf

There's a transition/expo map on Page 9.
On Page 28, there's a map of the park that shows where the Finish Line is in relation to stuff in the park.

My attitude is, I could do this course alone with a $10 bill and a Camelbak. Anything else is just icing on the cake. I know they are going to do a great job.

I've tracked the accuweather 15 day forecast before and I am doing it again for Rev3 just for fun.  If you actually keep track of how the forecast changes, you will see that it is useless to look at the high temperature forecast until 2 days before and the low temperature forecast is useless to look at until the day before.  If you don't believe me, track it yourself.  So far, the forecast for the 12th has changed every day dramatically with each forecast even as we have gotten closer.

And, don't even get me started with the precipitation forecast.  It is useless until the day of and then you have to look at a map and decide for yourself.  The weather people do some good stuff for emergency predictions and general temps, but forecasting for endurance events is not their forte.
