I didn't know Dick Tomlin, but he sure seemed to personify all that's great about the people of triathlon. He was killed on his bike, and you can read all about him if you follow this link.

Unfortunately motorists are often distracted and don't see us out on the road.  In other cases they think they can beat us to an intersection and turn right in front of a cyclist.  I don't think they realize how fast we're actually moving.  As cyclists we need to keep our wits about us, and pay attention to what drivers are doing, and not be stupid on the raod.

Same thing happened here in Denver a couple of weeks ago. Some kid fell asleep behind the wheel and killed a cyclist. Now he's facing manslaughter charges. The cyclist never stood a chance. Damn sad!
