got the bike / cadence sensor today and wanted to put it on my p2.  anyone have similar setup?

just wandering if the sensor arm can be actually put down between the spoke and the rear chain stay?  it doesn't seem to fit.  looks like the arm has to be in the up position....maybe there is another way, and someone can give me some pointers.

thanks

Huh? Push the arm all the way down. Put the sensor on the left side chain stay so the arm faces the rear of the bike. Put the curved side of the sensor onto the chain stay.

The arm shouldn't touch the spokes at all in that position and should be between the spokes and the chainstay.

I have the same setup - I had to angle up the arm that matches to the wheel magnet. I would have liked to bend that arm down to hide it beside the chainstay, but it just won't fit. I was afraid that I might kick it with my heel while mounting/dismounting, but hasn't happened so far. Have only had the setup on the trainer, though.

well there is a pic of 1 bike here it is, seems to fit there....so i am doing something wrong i think but it sure doesn't seem like there is enough space there.

No, I don't think you're doing anything wrong, just different spacing between the chainstay and the spokes. I tried rotating the body of the sensor outward, but then it's hitting the magnet on the crank arm. I just don't think the fixed distance between the inside of the crank arm and the spoke is wide enough to accomodate the sensor with the arm down. Not sure if that makes sense, but I just couldn't get it to work. Let us know, though, if you figure something out!

I'm sure that you've tried this already, but it looks like you could move the sensor further away from the bottom bracket. I have mine set up so that the magnet on the pedal is at the very end of the pedal.

Then I do not believe you're doing anything wrong, there's just not enough room. A pic of my setup (on both Felts) looks exactly like that pic you posted, with the arm down.

I know it's a silly question but just in case, you have tried to move the sensor closer to the tire where the spokes go in towards the rim, right?

^ i'll try that tonight.  maybe even try to put it on the other side of the spokes if that makes sense.

i just don't feel comfortable having the sensor up like that.  technically nothing SHOULD happend.  but i already lost one cateye sensor that is why i am replacing it with this.

its only $40 but still don't want to keep rebuying this thing.  just curious of what actual setups on other P2c's look like.

I have ridden with the arm in the up position for over a year and a half with my 305 and never had an issue with kicking or bumping it.  It is adjustable to both the up and down position to take into account for different bike geometries.

I've got the 305 on a P2C. Speed/cadence sensor in the arm-up position. It seems precarious, but I've not once had a problem with it, even after several rear-wheel sucks into the cutout due to failed screws that shredded my rear derailleur cables and detrued my wheel.

I would actually recommend immediately changing the CR2032 battery in the sensor. Mine was weak to begin with and I couldn't get it to reliable get my speed regardless of position. Changed the battery a few days later, and it's worked like a charm for months since.

gonna try that tonight see if that works need one anyway.  pic of what it looks like on a p2c with arm down....

don't know if you can see well from this pic but the arm is down and the sensor is flipped but very very close.  when it passes the green light appears.  so i know it is working, red light when the cadence sensor appears.

You've already set it to rescan then run the pedals backwards, I would imagine?

I have a 705 sensor on my p2, so basically the same thing.

I had to use some electrical tape to hold the speed sensor to the chainstays.  This will stopped the magnet from hitting the sensor.

It may also be possible to turn it around, and mount it on the bottom of the frame.  That way you could slide it back just a tad to give you more room.  Also, x2 on the battery issue, had batteries come dead on my foot pod.
