Subject: Help me figure out a new pre-race/long training day breakfast mix
Alright guys, I'm sick of the ceareal/oatmeal/eggs for breakfast before a race or long training day. I know I can get away without much more than gatorade before a sprint, but I do want to have something in place that I've tried out as many times as I can prior to my HIM in May. I was thinking maybe a smoothie type of drink (obviously not very thick) involving fruit (banana/blueberry/strawberry) and a small amount of milk. Other than that, I'm not really sure what else to look for when putting this smoothie together. I suppose maybe some sort of pre-race mix but I'm not very familiar with any other types if they don't start with Gatorade and end in Endurance. Also, not really sure about how many or how much carbs, sodium, sugar, etc. I should be looking for. Just for reference, I'm about 6'1 and 200 lbs. If any of you have any ideas or suggestions, I'm all ears.

What about whole wheat blueberry pancakes with pure maple syrup and a banana.

i dont eat breakfast, so not much help there, ubt when i need to eat before a long training day, its about as complicated as a PB&J, or some yogurt and a banana, and maybe some chocolate soy milk (no other reason than i love the taste and it packs a solid cal punch for the glass)

It's pretty much up to personal preference for everyone.  Whatever you find though, make sure to test it out in training.  Nothing new on race day!

That sounds very very tasty. I'm trying to find something that I can take with me during my drive race morning or have with me at the hotel and not worry about having to cook anything. The less thinking race morning, the better. I may try the pancakes once in a while during training though, that really sounds good. Out of all the whole wheat things I eat, I have never tried whole wheat pancakes. Maybe I'm worrying too much about how much I need and ingredients, but can I get away with just a yogurt and banana for a HIM?
