Well figured I'd introduce myself since I seem to be getting addicted to these forums and the sport itself. I'm new to the sport of Triathlons, coming from Cycling as my primary sport. I race road, mtb, and cyclocross and figured that wasn't enough so I decided to do my first Triathlon this year. I'll be racing in the half-ironman in the Timberman Triathlon for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. I love cycling although I've never been very good at it and figured I'd give a go at running and swimming even though it's taking a lot of learning. I'm currently a dedicated cyclist where cycling is my life, my job doesn't count :P, but hope to include Triathlons into my obsessions. Wish me luck! I applaud you all who race Triathlons, I have a hard enough time racing cycling nevermind running, cycling, and swimming all at once.

from a Wannabe Triathlete,
Dave

P.S. I'm not very photogenic but will try to find a good pic soon.

Hey Dave. Welcome! I know what you mean about the addiction. This is my second week of triathlon training and I am pumped already. I find myself spending hours on the forums because they are such a great way to learn, not to mention that everybody here is quite amusing! Sounds like you have a great background with cycling. You should do well!

DRLski - Thx, assuming I don't drown :PDave
Uh... isn't there something about no negativity allowed? Repeat after me, "Keep swimming, keep swimming, keep swimming." All in fun, but sometimes we psyche ourselves out, don't want that to happen to you.

Welcome, Dave, to the sport(s) and to the site. Congratulations for making the Team In Training effort, great program, great cause. There are a number of BTers here that have done and are doing events through Team In Training. Be sure to let us know if you have any questions or if we can help in any way.

True true, Shellee.

And, if you're still worried about drowning, just remember you'd have to go out of your way to drown wearing a wet suit!

Welcome Dave. You won't drown. This time last year I couldn't swim 25 yards without having to stop and catch my breath. I just swam 1/2 mile in my first tri Sunday. You can do it. Good luck!
