Pre-race routine:

Planned on leaving house by 7:30am but didnt wake up until 7:38am so jolted up got dressed, grabbed a bagel and bolted. Luckily had everything ready in the car.
Event warmup:

Ran around parking lot to get everything into transition area. Biked out about a mile and back. Decided it was too cold for just bike gloves and called home to have Tom bring ski gloves! Warm up in pool, ez 200, 100 kick, 200+. Had to get used to lane markers for flip turns. Lots of warm up time bcuz race started about 15 minutes late.
Swim
  • 07m 47s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 34s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim felt good, not tired. Goggles started to fill last 100 yds so was only breathing to one side alternating 2&4.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe try to push a little harder.
Transition 1
  • 02m 2s
Comments:

Started HR monitor after got out of swim. Put on one ski glove then realized needed to put on helmet, fumbled to buckle with one ski glove on!
What would you do differently?:

No shorts and gloves after helmet! Run faster to bike.
Hopefully next time will be warmer and wont need gloves.
Bike
  • 32m 57s
  • 10 miles
  • 18.21 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt good, pretty much staying with group.
What would you do differently?:

Try to push a little harder.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Run
  • 30m 45s
  • 4.1 miles
  • 07m 30s  min/mile
Comments:

Pretty consistent on the run. Felt good. Had someone on my back for 3.5 miles then I couldnt hold her off, she was able to give a little extra and passed me. I felt good but did not have any extra speed in my legs.
What would you do differently?:

Try a little harder for that last kick.
Post race
Warm down:

Just a little stretching. Lots of standing around cheering others to the finish.

Event comments:

This is a very fun event, very supportive of all participants.
