Hi Everyone!

Wanted to introduce myself to everyone quick, I'm Ryan, 26 and just got into triathlon training 2 months ago.  In order to take on a new challenge in my life, I got a coach (Jeff Kline @prsfit on twitter) and started in head first, so to say.

I'm scheduled to do the Lake Sebago Half Ironman on August 22, but trying to find another half on August 29th (my 27th birthday).

I love a new challenge in my life, and decided triathlon was it.  I run my own soccer business and love the beautiful game, which allows me time to train whenever I can.

If I can help anyone else out during my training, please let me know! I look forward to getting to know all of you on the boards (I hear it's a pretty friendly place around here).

-Ryan

Whooohooooo! Congrats!  I did my first HIM last summer and it was an incredible experience.  I loved the training volume, the intensity and the actual race distance!

Welcome to BT!

Welcome Ryan!  Best of luck with your training.  I've been a hockey player my whole life, but am very glad I found triathlons.

Quick question, did you type correctly when you said you were doing your first HIM on 8/22 and then you want to do another on 8/29?  If so, I do not recommend that.  That is simply not enough time for your body to recover and go this distance again.

I just realized that after I read it. No, I'm only doing one this summer, I'm scheduled for 8/22 but I want to find 8/29 because it's my bday.

A hockey player eh? I played that all my life too, growing up in Buffalo, it's pretty much a rite of passage for us.

Right on Ryan, that makes a little more sense Smile

Yup, I played at Quinnipiac University a few years back.  While I was there, we were still in the MAAC/Atlantic Hockey league and played against Canisius.

Well it sounds like we've got a lot in common and both have competitive spirits.  With that said, I have a feeling you're going to absolutely love this sport and you could be looking for a full Ironman for 8/29/2011.

Once again, best of luck.  The forums are here can be extremely helpful, especially when you're starting out.
