Does anyone have any experience of Saris bike racks?  Are they OK?

Also, my LBS has three different ones, ranging in price from $100 to $270. Is there much difference in quality?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

I have the "Bones" rack that fits three bikes.  I've been pretty happy with.  I always wrap my frame in bubble wrap where the rack holds onto the frame so it can't scratch it.

I also have the bones rack.  Only needed to use it once thus far.  I'm very happy with it and wouldn't go anywhere else without it.

I also have the bones.  It's solid, light weight, and has almost no metal, so it won't rust.

I have a Saris Thelma 2 bike rack and love it.  It is a hitch rack with countoured arms that secure the bike by the wheels/tires.  Nothing on the rack touches the bike frame or the vehicle.  Plus no lifting of bikes to top of vehicle.

I have the saris bones as well...  I love it, and get LOT'S of compliments on it.

I only have ONE gripe...  And this is for all truck mounted bike racks, most likely.  The feet that rest on the trunck of sort of scuffed/rubbed my nice paint job.  I may be able to get it detailed and buffed out, but I'm not sure.

Now, I try to clean the trunk (even more than I did in the past) to make sure there is no dust or dirt to grind in.  I then place a wash cloth under each foot to help save the paint.

I have the same rack...really like it.  easy on and off the car.  My LBS recommended picking up some of that dense foam pipe insulation (looks like long tubes) to use where the rack holds the bike...no scratching and makes a very snug fit/hold.  I just keep some extra lengths in the trunk and cut off chunks as I need it (lose it).
