Wow, I just found this forum. I guess I don't spend enough time on BT anymore. But after being very excited about this section and reading almost all of the threads, I realize every thread is about ultra running. Are there any ultra triathletes here (besides Gina and Tony)?

Hopefully soon to be!

I was planning the double last year but it "sold" out. I'd like to do it this year, but my first 100 mile run is around that time.

So are there any double or triples that aren't in Virginia?! We need an ultra tri in the southern half of the US!

That is currently the only double/triple IM in the US. The race director I think is talking to one of the athletes about trying to set something up in Florida somewhere. The race site in Virginia is beautiful, but is getting cramped with all of the interest. There is also the 24 hours of triathlon in Colorado that sounds pretty cool. There may be other ultra tri events like that, that I am not aware of.

I know that 'trixie' is planning on doing the double or maybe as a relay this coming year.

Oh, I also forgot about the Ultramans in Hawaii and Canada too. As I said in another thread, I think those would be super tough for me to go with long breaks inbetween the racing. I'm scared my body would go on lockdown!

while not at true tri.. there is a 24 & 48 hr du. It's  mnt bike and running event just north of dallas,  every 6 hours you switch whomever goes the farthest wins.

I thought there was a BT'er that did it last year, Tony??   (not the mr2tony )

There's also the 24 Hours of Triathlon in the Denver area.

So far no one (solo) has managed to do 2 IM distances, but a few have come really close.

Steve Kirby has a proposal in to have the race in St Petersburg, FL. GREAT location, flat as a pancake. Gulf swim. He's got a Facebook page, check it out.
