A serindipitous discovery of an obscure but FABULOUS red wine.

Food. Any food. Mainly leftovers...

and chocolate......dark chocolate...oh, by the gods, chocolate; food of the gods, created by the gods, for the gods, such sinfull pleasure on earth should never have been allowed to pass the lips of mere mortal man...forget the anvil chorus, of man stealing the element of fire from the gods and forging his will upon the earth - it was in fact chocolate that man stole from the immortals and still managed to adulterate it!

Cigars and good Scotch while listening to a good rock/blues/jazz combo

Learning new skills (e.g. swimming, biking, playing guitar, building a computer and other things that I have taught myself how to do.)

A good Italian meal, heavy on the garlic.

Grain-fed, very rare, 1 1/4 inch-thick Black Angus tenderloin steak with a dry Cabernet (or two)

The smell of a wet dog.

Watching my black lab twitch with anticipation as I'm holding her frisbee on the shore of a lake.

The way my chocolate lab prances during our walks.

Any movie that can suck me in and make me forget about everything else but the story.

NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament a.k.a. "March Madness"

Kinnick Stadium in the fall, packed with black-and-gold-clad Iowa faithful screaming for their team.

When the Iowa defense forces a three-and-out and the band strikes up Darth Vader's theme. *chills*

The color of my wife's eyes

Going to a formal event in my dress blues so that my wife will stare at me all night.

Post-formal sex

The well-earned smell after a workout.

Sitting next to an ocean or a Great Lake and contemplating just how small I am

Getting away from "civilization" into the wilds of the world and my own heart.

11 - running in the rain

10 - good wine and port 

9 - sex anytime (at my age, I'll take whenever I can ... but only with my wife)

8 - long walks after dinner with my sweetie

7 - doing triathlons with my older brother

4 - a beautiful opera aria

3 - a beautiful woman smiling back at me

2 - an older couple holding hands and gazing lovingly into each other's eyes
