Subject: Pain in the male anatomy while cycling
This is a first, i'm a pretty avid mountain biker, and i took a short road ride the other day. For the rest of the day i had a dull achy pain and numbness in those areas of the "male" anatomy (sorry, trying not to offend anyone). Have any other guys had this problem? The pain and numbness went away after about a day. Is this a technique issue with riding? (I'm not actually on the seat alot when i'm riding trails or falling down hills).

Thanks

I am pretty new to all this but I have been having a numbness issue also. Mine normally goes away a few minutes after I get off the bike but it does feel pretty weird. I am going to experiment with a different saddle but am open to other suggestions.

A tingle and some numbness in the male anatomy.  I get up and dance on the pedals for a minute or so, get the circulation going, and take the pressure off of the area.  Usually doesn't happen again.  A very distracting Tingle.

i've recently found the 'standing on pedals' to work well. also, i recently got a new saddle which cut out my previous problems almost entirely. i got one of the specialized ones... avatar. has worked well.

Happens to me on the trainer. Never happened on the road. I think it has to do with your position on the saddle compressing your pudental nerve. Try sitting with your weight on your butt bones more so than your "taint" or "tween". james

yup, pretty normal. Just stand on pedals and get some circulation going. I've read that it CAN be linked to a short-term loss of fertility, but nothing long term. So unless you're immediately trying to have a baby, it's nothing to worry about

I'mm 44 and have 4 kids ranging in age from 19 - 14. Maybe a few more bike rides would help.

I just noticed that my seat was too far back, moving the seat froward eliminated most of the numbness.

From the other threads on the board, it would take quite a lot to offend most around here.

I had a freind lend me a padded seat. It could be that I had it adjusted better or the padding but it really cut down on the numbness. Now if I could just take care of my numb hands!
