Welcome to BT!  You'll find answers to all your questions here from a bunch of helpful people.  Find a good begginer tri and sign up.  It becomes much more real once you sign up.

To be honest, I made sure I could swim the sprint distance before I signed up, but I never swam laps in my life.

Welcome Sharyn!  If we can be of any help at all, just ask.  As for that race, just go look for one by clicking on the "races" button at the top and sign up!  If you've never done a triathlon before you'll most likely want to do a sprint distance.  It will force you to train and you'll have lots of questions!

Okay...I am going to look into this, thank you. I am in Florida, I will see what is available third/fourth quarter of this year...thank you again for your help.

UGH, LUCKY!  I'm sure you have about a bazillion choices.  I'm up in NH and there are just a few throughout the year....but obviously enough to keep me busy!  Good luck and get to work!

Sharyn5,  you from PA??  Whereabouts?  I'm also from PA (I know your currently in FL)....snow is gone and it's hitting in the 50's to 60's in temp.   Lovin' the weather....:-)

I would get my feet "wet" by racing a DUathlon (Run-bike-run) if you haven't swam in awhile.  I figured, can't die from running or bking.....but, drowning just scared the crap out of me.
