I am curious what some of you think about the benefits of a TT/Tri bike vs a road bike. I have a road bike which is probably fine but I am curious what benefit I would get by moving to a tri bike? Any thoughts or insight would be much appreciated.

Welcome to BT. I would start by doing a search on this subject as it has been discussed MANY times. That being said it will also be discussed many more, so I am happy to start off with a few of my thoughts. I am sure a lot of much more experienced triathletes will have more input.

A tri bike when properly fitted will be more aerodynamic (faster) than a road bike, more comfortable over a long distance (for me any way, again when properly fitted), less maneuverable (not good for commuting), and again faster (I know, said that already).

Those are just my quick thoughts. I will also try to find a link for you to a great article on the subject.

Both road and tri bike are made extreamly well.  The vast majority of drag comes from the rider, which is why your riding position is so important.  The tri bike's geometry is designed to make it more comfortable in a "aero"-dynamic positon.

The bike itself is not fatser or slower, IMO.

Here's interesting test of road vs TT bike re-power differences at speed.  Don't forget the aero helmet is very functional too.

But be aware another benefit for tri is that the more upright seat tube on tri bike means more open hip angle.  This benefits your run coming off the bike.
