Motivated has requested an exemption for coredump's injury. It seems, however, that the (ahem) fairer sex are somewhat lacking in the compassion department.

I'm willing to pick up 20 of coredump's miles. I haven't counted how many we have, but if we each put in 10-20 extra miles, we should cover it. [EDIT] - just checked - we have 34 minus Chris, he had (as of the last web update) 291 miles left... leaving 8 extra miles per person

Anyone else? I'd love to pick up his miles, but since he's a bike stud, that would be more than doubling my miles, can't shoulder it alone. Just think how much sweeter victory will be Not to mention how much better our karma will be than the GGs

Great plan, Chris, except it doesn't quite work that way. We average % of completion, not miles. Coredump is at 42% of his goal, so what we have to do is make up the 58% he's lacking. Your 20 miles extra is actually 10% of your goal, which goes to cover his shortfall. For someone like, say Steve_ who has a goal of 500 miles the 20 would just be 4%. Still the same basic approach, just the math works a little different. Everyone has to push a little harder to cover the fallen teammate.

We can make coredump's incapacitation a non issue in another way: the way we score this includes dropping the highest and lowest participant. So if everyone achieves more than 42% of their goal, coredump gets administratively withdrawn. I would challenge everyone to help those below that threshhold to get out and ride. As of today, these are the teammates below 42%:

Crazypop

Flyboy

phule1970

atree

Some may have ridden this weekend and will be above that threshhold, others may need a PM, an "Inspire Me," or an email of encouragement.

Chickadees probably don't realize that nothing is more motivating than an opponent without compassion.

I think it's great that the boys are going to pick up the slack for Chris' shortfall. It is EXACTLY what the girls did during the swim challenge when Nikki had SURGERY. The guys didn't want to let Nikki off the hook, so the girls all pitched in and covered her mileage. Little word called TEAMWORK. It's good to see that the boys team is familiar with the word, but it would be nice if they didn't make assumptions about the disposition of Coredump's request to withdraw.

"We" aren't lacking in compassion. "We" are lacking in desire to get online during the weekend, "we" only discovered the request this morning, and "we" are addressing Chris' request.

Carry on.

Bones,

I am already at 100% for my month, so I will work to get as close to an additional 30 miles which will put me at 160% for the month.

I will keep pushing to help the percentages.

That's kind of what I was indicating in my previous post: 30 miles means 60% if you do it while it only means 9% if I do it. Of course, it may be 7 times harder for you to ride the 30 miles...

After PM exchange with Chris/Coredump, the Gear Goddess team graciously consents to Captain Karl's request to withdraw him from the Challenge.

We wish Chrissypoo speedy healing and recovery.

Chickadees probably don't realize that nothing is more motivating than an opponent without compassion.

It was the effect of my compassionate team chycks that made it all that much greater. That was my point. I'm not an opponent without compassion, I was relaying how cool it was for the team to pony up on my behalf. Ah-hem....like the bonding you are doing right now, for instance. Try reading the threads with your blinders off sometime bear. Don't be so quick to condemn just because you have a snappy line to ride it on.

Chris...you be the injured soul, you saw my response as heartless. It had nothing to do with your health, it was about being part of the team. Of course I wouldn't want you to injure yourself and of course we'll all here to support each other and have FUN.

Wow......what a stir.

Oh, Chris! Fear not - the granny remark has no more effect on me than it would on you if I... say... made a viagra comment. Or a shrinkage comment. Or used the word emasculate in a sentence. Or... ok, ok, I'll stop. :D

Nah, Chris, just a complete lack of sense of humor by a certain number of the ice goddesses. Most of 'em get it, some of them apparently do not.

This is all for fun ladies, different varieties of smack talk. Laugh it off, move on.
