I am in the process of getting over the too much business travel fat life and back into shape - in part to keep up with and lead by example my two sons, 4 and 5. I have lost 35lbs over the past year - gradual with a gym program increasing my fitness at the same time. I was looking for a goal to target in addition to working on the remaing 15 -20 lbs I want to get rid of - hey how about do a tri, since I have the St. Anthony's one here in St. Pete FL. So I will attend as an observer the April 25th event this year - and my goal is to be a strong competitor in April 2005. I also will be joining a local group as I start to gear up for the fun! I wish everyone here luck in going for it! Peter

Hey Peter--

Let me be the first to welcome you! Congrats on the weight loss, and I'm sure that you will be very glad you picked a tri for your next goal. Well, perhaps when the obsessive addiction sets in, you'll be last glad! :-)

I imagine that you'll enjoy the camraderie and the helpful info!

Big job on the weight loss - nice work! Keep it up; slow and steady wins the race toward your goals: weight loss and completing a Tri. My guess is that if you stay motivated, by the time you're ready for your first one, you'll be SO ready you'll want to do more than just finish! Good luck!!

Congratulations on the weight loss. And for taking responsibility for setting a good example for your boys. My hat's off to you! You are in a great place for triathlon, both racing and training. There are all sorts of multisport events within an hours drive of you, all throughout the year. And I hear that tri group over there is a lot of fun. My daughter is racing in the shorter race on Saturday, Meek & Mi and that is a great place to start. The distances are managable, even for a beginner. And with 500 participants, should provide a big race feel. I wish we could stay til Sunday to watch St. Anthony's, but commitments on Sunday force us to leave Saturday. Good luck with your training and your goals. Be sure to sign up right away for St. Anthony's, it sold out in 4 or 5 days this year. And that was after adding 1000 more spots for 2004! Also, let us know how the race was, from a spectator's point of view. I know we have some BT'ers who will be doing the race.

Peter:

Congrats on the weight control and the great goals. I'll be at St. Anthony's this year for the first time. I know a few of the St. Pete Mad Dogs. They're a great tri group to hook up with. (a little out of control sometimes,;-) but a nice group of people) If you see me at St. Anthony's, be sure to say hi. I'll be the one with short brown hair.

I'll be sure to look for the guy with the two blonde-haired boys. Wait a minute! We have two blonde-haired boys! This might be tougher than I thought. I'll probably also be wearing a royal blue TEAM USA tri-top and tri-shorts. You'll probably see 10-20 people with those uniforms who are on various national teams (that doesn't mean I'm fast...I'm on the long-course team. It just means I can finish the longer races...eventually!!)

Hope to see you there.

Sharon
