Pre-race routine:

Zenuwen, 100x naar de WC gaan. Boterhammen met banaan en pindakaas gegeten die mij niet zo erg smaakte, had meer zin in pasta. Volgende keer pasta voorzien voor een wedstrijd.

Had sneller kunnen zwemmen denk ik. Nog wel potentieel.
What would you do differently?:

Keerpunten leren nemen! Niet zo lang achter iemand blijven hangen gewoon om te kunnen draften. Sneller versnellen (ipv enkel laatste 50m).

Trage wissel! Geraakte ook niet goed uit het bad (hoge rand om op te klimmen). Stom, veel tijd verloren.
What would you do differently?:

Geen short meer aandoen, elastische veters in gebruik nemen. Leren lopen zonder sokken? Anders, gemakkelijker jasje/shirt nemen, want dit stropte op.

Had sneller kunnen lopen, maar had in het begin last om op adem te komen.
What would you do differently?:

Vroeger versnellen, doorbijten, meer drinken meenemen want dit is wel een voordeel (ook psychologisch).

Warm down:

Niets gedaan buiten 500ml sportdrank opgeslokt en blij geweest met de prestatie. Warme douche was hemels!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Te weinig race-ervaring zodat ik mijn snelheid moeilijk kon inschatten. Loopconditie moet nog sterk verbeteren. Afvallen zou ook wel helpen...

Geen idee over snelheid, want wissel zat bij in looptijd.

Maybe I should have entered the race details in English ;-) Didn't know it would turn up on the forum! Still have a lot to learn about this site...

To be short: the aquathlon (500m swim - 5K run) was the first competition in a series of women-friendly competition in Belgium organised by our triathlon-organisation IronGirls. It was a nice environment to run and although the weather could have been better, we were lucky it didn't rain!

About my performance, I was happy with the swimming, only the getting out of the water was REALLY difficult. You had to climb on the high swimming pool wall, which was as elegant as a stranded whale! I lost a lot of time there and my transition was also (again) too slow. The running part was ok, but I have a lot of potential to grow further. I need to accelerate earlier in the futher (and losing some pounds would also help...).
