Subject: Columbia Road Bike Routes?
Hello all,

I am meeting a buddy of mine in April in Columbia to ride. He lives in NoVa and I live in Cecil County, MD (Ceciltucky) outside of Northeast so we figured Columbia is half way (kinda) to meet up. I used to work off Columbia Gateway Drive so I am familiar enough with the area to be dangerous. I was hoping to get some suggestions on any 20 to 30 mile routes that are fairly straight forward to ride. I will search mapmyride as well but thought I would ask this fine stand up group too.

Its too bad the most active users are so far south. I need training partners up north!

You could go to http://www.tricolumbia.org/ and look at the Columbia tri, Celebration Sprint and Iron Girl course maps there. I think most of them are pretty close to what you are looking for distance-wise.

Since you're meeting in an about half-way location, are you open to other closeby alternatives that would offer better cycling roads?

Not to hate on Columbia (I know a lot of BTers love the columbia course), but for the same amount of driving you could end up in much more rural areas.  Go west, Grasshopper

I agree with the other Josh, if you ride a little west there are a lot of more rural roads in Frederick county (that's where I ride).  If you want to ride the columbia tri course, just click on the routes tab at the top and search for "columbia tri" about 100 different people have saved the route.  Its a 25 mile, hilly course.
