Subject: Suggestions on cycling jacket available online?

My two go-to sources for online cycling gear, Nashbar and Performance, have totally let me down. I'm looking for a decent and affordable bike jacket--hopefully something fairly wind/rain proof. Both sites have dreadful selections right now. You'd think with Spring here, these would be in season (maybe that's the problem--I'm too late). If you're looking for an XS in neon yellow, you might be in luck, but their color and size selections stink.

Hoping for a few suggestions. Would like to stay under/around $100.

You can try the Avero ads that pop up on the right. They are advertising a pair of tri shorts with a free cycling jacket. I got a pair of the shorts (they are OK as cycling shorts but they have fleece for crotch padding which doesnt work the greatest for swimming) and the free jacket. The jacket is pretty nice with cuff velcro and back food/gear pockets. Total for everything including shipping was 37$.

Depending on temps my absolute favorite bike jackets for wind and water proof are Bike Gore wear stuff. I have 3 of their jackets and wear them all. Last one I got at Amazon for about 50% off normal price. I'm a bit of a bike jacket junkie..probably have 12 or more

I wear them if it is about 55 or less warmer and they are to hot. One of the jackets I have has zip off sleeves so the vest can be worn warmer and I do wear them running in certain weather also.

gvey - 2010-03-31 1:26 PM www.louisgarneau.com

www.pearlizumi.com

Any of these will probably have a selection of jackets.

But, it's April (almost).  Why do you need a jacket?  Now is when you have to HTFU!

Funny. You must be from a warmer clime. Forecast for Saturday here in Spokanistan:

Low 27, High 42    30% chance of snow=BRRRR. Thanks for the replies and suggestions.

I've had good luck at the Spokane REI clearance rack.

For cold weather/rain I use the Pearl Izumi Elite Barrier WxB Jacket.  Waterproof and windproof.  very light but very warm.

Windy/cool weather and/or light rain I use the PRO Barrier Lite jacket.  I like it because it packs in you jersey pocket very nicely.

That's what I did. For the money you can't beat it. Heck, I ordered another pair of shorts and got a second jacket. It came in and the zipper stop came off. I emailed them for instructions on exchanging it. They didn't want the defective one back and sent me another one. So, a little gorilla glue and the zipper stop is back on! If the jackets last the full season it's a bargain! And, I've ridden a two hour ride on the shorts and no problems!
