MarioJW - 2010-04-13 11:37 AM While I can see throwing my running shoes in the washer, I wouldn't want to pee on the bike, getting out of the cycling shoes must be much tougher.

MarioJW - 2010-04-12 11:48 AM Although I had never needed to pee on the run, it wouldn't bother me. The only thing I would make sure is to give my shoes a good washing after!

It takes a long time to get that odor out of the sneakers...or so I've heard...Embarassed

I wash my bike shoes in the dishwasher w/o dishes and they smell fresh & clean.

During my Half iron last year it was raining hard and I had to go bad on lap 2/3 on the bike. After flatting and dropping a water bottle on that ride, you can sure as hell believe I was not pulling over to pee. I stood up on the bike and let it go. I dont care. Plus it was raining so really nothing to worry about. Plus I was happy for the fact that I was hydrating properly!

She said there was no place to stop and go, not to mention it is all guys saying they would not do it.   It is not nearly as easy for her to stop and go as it is for us.

I say let if fly, training or race.  If it doesn't bother you ie: grossing yourself out, why not.

My only request is for those peeing on the bike.  Give those behind you a heads up.  I got peed on during a Oly two years ago.

I don't really care whether other triathletes wet themselves or not, but I do care where they do it.

I was biking the required 7 meters behind another biker in my last tri when he wet his shorts.  The flood seeped out at the back of his leg and sprayed all over the place in his backdraft.  My front wheel got painted in urine.  Uncool!

Please, look before you leak.

jblt4 - 2010-04-02 12:07 PM I did...during a cross country skiing race.......in january..........It was not the right decission.

LOL - a pee-sicle.

Although I wouldn't pee on the bike or run, you can be sure I'm gonna do it in my wetsuit...and I don't pee in the pool but that's only because I have this fear that the one day I decide to take a leak will be the same day they decided to start using the pee proving dye and I'll have this cloud of bright purple or something around me lol.

I haven't had occasion to yet.  I'm not sure I would during training, but I'm just building volume at this point.  Maybe when I'm more hardcore.

But during a race?  Of course I would.  Urine is the most sterile thing to come out of your body, so I tend to think peeing on yourself is a objectively less gross than spitting on yourself (which I have a bad habit of accidentally doing).  And I drink enough water that my urine isn't all that concentrated, so smell isn't a big deal to me.  The disgust reaction to urine is largely due to a cultural taboo, and I see no reason to be limited by it.

I wouldn't pee in a pool though, that's forcing other people to play along.  Not cool.

I wondering if the people who are questioning if the smell will come out of your bike shorts have never had kids.  My kids definitely have blown a diaper or two, or what about the cloth kind, they come back from the service smelling just fine.

I have had to pee during a race.  Didn't want to but not a choice.  No porta potties and running along a path with no bushes.

I've peed in a bottle while driving a few times, but try to keep it off the leather.  Works best on the freeway with cruise control on.

See,.. I find this infinitely more offensive than peeing in a pool.

Sharing someone else's sterile waste water - I can live with.

Sharing the freeway with a maniac who can't control his own vehicle while travelling at lethal speed - ewww.

(Sorry norcal - nothing personal)
