S, how many of you choose to pee yourself while training?

Only reason i ask, yesterday I had a TT run and about 20 minutes into it, a dog came out of nowhere and started runnig at me and barking/growling..I thought I ws going to be pounced on and bitten.  Anyway, the owner got the dog, but in the meantime ,when I started runnign again, I had to pee really bad...no where in sight to hide or go, and I was really pushing hard for the TT..so, I peed while runnnig...Am I just insane?  IT's only training and not a race, but I really didn't want to mess up my  numbers for my coach to analyze.

Would you have done the same or stopped your TT and found a place to go?

I will never win money or become famous from racing so I have no intentions of ever peeing myself on the bike and/or run.  To each their own...

Personally, I think that unless you're a pro or top-level AG'er where every second decides whether you podium or not, its insane. Going #2 is on a whole new level of insane.

I just cant see the point taking a dump  in your shorts to win a race. Triathlete X may win at Kona, but people wont remember them for winning at Kona, theyll remember them as the person who crapped themselves while winning Kona.

IMHO.

Amen to that.

I refuse to pee on myself. It's worth the two minutes to stop and go. Ew.

If I was "was really pushing hard for the TT," I wouldn't be able to pee. My equipment doesn't work that way.

x2 here.  Bike or run, race or not, it doesn't matter, I'll find somewhere to go other than in my pants.

When you pee yourself in training because you don't want to screw up your numbers, then you may be too attached to your gadgets.  I dunno, maybe it's just me, but perfect data is worth not having warm pizz running down my leg and into my shoes.

(this excludes any swim training of course)

I find a tree, a building, a bush and duck behind that.  Between the smell and the extra chafing that the pee on me would cause I have no desire to pee on myself, especially just in training.  A 30 second break isn't going to change the effect of your training run.

x2

There's always another day you can do a TT.  Unless you get medals or podium finishes during your training....

Not a big deal really, I personally wouldn't do it because for some reason I can't deal with bad odors after hard efforts (they make me dry heave/puke).

Some people obviously get grossed out by it, by lots of people are easily grossed out by even more trivial things (like eating food off the floor, or peeing in the shower.

So if you have a goal that is more important to you than keeping your shorts dry, I say let'er flow.

OK so since all the boo-birds have come out to say NO...I'll weigh in just to say hey why not!?  It's not being too attached to your gadgets---she clearly said numbers for her COACH---hey she's paying someone to create a plan around those numbers so better to have accurate numbers!!  And hey it's just your own pee.........Surprised  I realize we aren't talking about Kona podium spots but hey if it's acceptable to you then go for it...

Exactly. You don't sit there and marinate in your own urine when you're swimming.

When running, I don't think I'd be able to pee.  Relaxing one specific set of muscles while engaging other ones -- too complicated for my poor brain, lol.

Now, breaking wind while running... totally different story.

I pay a coach as well and the answer is still no.  And I can guarantee my coach would agree with me.  All you have to do is hit stop on the watch, pee, then start again.  And managing my water intake to match my training schedule is still a work in process so I've definitely had to duck behind trees and such.  Speaking, I better finish this water so I don't have to find a tree tonight because it's a route without many options. Tongue out
