OK gang - Boulder Peak will be here before you know it, and our quads will be SCREAMING on Old Stage Hill.  Unless we train for it!  I'm going to step on a limb here, and claim both July 2nd and July 9th for training rides on the BP bike course (should already be marked).  I'll do both rides, any other brave souls wish to tame that hill before the race?

I'll probably take you up on the 9th date (We'll be backpacking over the 4th weekend, so the second is out for me).

Maybe Erik and I could each do a weekend!  I need to get my compact crank on my bike first though......

Unfortunately, I'm out for both. Gone over the 4th and first tri on the 10th. I doubt Old Stage Hill would be a good pre-race ride. But it's definitely a fun one. Just watch out for the deer than started out in front of me on the way down the backside. I was still gaining speed, at about 35 mph, and saw it making its way toward the road. A quick panic attack later, it stopped to eat some grass. Have fun!

Joey,  What's the plan for Saturday?  Meet at that little parking area at the Res where we met to ride the sprint course?  If it's just you and me - how about EARLY?  And, do you want to tack on lefthand canyon at the end?

Actually, I have to do a little work from home, so I'm considering keeping it closer to home on Saturday.  (Our LV office is moving, and I have to copy some files that we'll need for Tuesday morning since their network will be down all weekend.)  Would you want to come up to the Louisville Legacy course?

This is my last weekend to train for Triple Bypass.  I can ride long, hard, and high on Saturday and Monday - so that's the plan.  I'll be out for at least 60 miles with hills each day.  Anyone else want to come out and play?

Before you go through the gate, there's an area of cars on the north side of the drive....it's free there.  Sometimes it is full and people park on the street across from the Rez.

Ovetta, I'll have Erik PM you or something.  He'll be starting earlier than the boulder peak training ride, and continuing after as well.

Side note, I am doing a 5 hour ride on Sunday if anyone wants to join me at 5:30 am (yes that is right!) and my friend Kelly to go around Boulder.  Looking at 80 miles.  We can pick people up on the way also!

Erik's starting at 6:30 and doing a loop on St. Vrain, then meeting all of you at 8.  He doesn't ever post, so I'll keep you informed.

Have fun!

Ovetta, there are some nice long rides down here with some great hills. Here are two that I enjoy:
1) I start out from work (by the pro rodeo hall of fame) and go up and around Rockrimmon, then up Woodmen, which turns out to be about 7 miles uphill. Woodmen turns into Centenial at the top and I ride down to where Vindicator and Flying W Ranch meet. I turn right there, and go up a nasty little hill on Flying W, then head back down to Garden of the Gods and do the big loop there, then head back out towards Centennial and over to Vindicator, down to Rockrimmon and back to work.

Click the items below to see the map and the profile and totals

2) You can also ride north from Colorado Springs, which is what I could do from my house. I ride up Powers from Research. It is nice because there is a wide shoulder and once you hit Briargate, it is closed to automobiles. It goes all the way to highway 83 by Interquest Parkway. I turn left on 83 and go down to Voyager which takes me up to Northgate. I turn right and then left on Rollercoaster. I ride up to Baptist and then take that whopping hill down accross I-25 to Old Denver highway, turn left on 2nd and go out by Monument lake to Hwy 105. Now we are heading up into Palmer Lake. When you get there, you could have ice cream, or you could ride more! I normally cut it short, take county line accross I-25 to Rollercoaster and follow it back to Northgate and home. For a really long ride you can add in some mileage by riding up to Larkspur, or further if you wish. That road is freshly paved and there is no traffic. In Larkspur, I turn left at the center of town, which takes me back out to Hwy 105, back to Palmer lake and then pick up the route accross I-25 on County Line Road. I don't have a profile for this one, since I have not done that whole ride in a while and I had a hardware failure with my laptop and lost the data. I do have a map for you though! The shortened loop is about 45 miles, the long loop is almost 70.
