I've got my first sprint tri of the season tomorrow morn. It is supposed to be 36 degrees with 20+ mph winds and rain. Sounds delightful eh? Obviously it is a pool indoor swim, but I'm looking for how best to survive and hopefully enjoy the race. Typically I would wear my tri suit and toss on something over it for the bike. It will be MUCH colder than I'm used to. Here are my questions:

Should I wear my tri-suit or swimsuit (as there would be less to make me wet on the bike)? Should I try to pull on my fleece biking pants?

Should I ride my new gorgeous road bike that I've only ridden once or my trusty hybrid?

Any other advice than just sleeping in?

I spent a career out in that cold wet stuff, I don't do it for fun. I trained in that last year for my first du. I would dress as needed to stay warm and dry. As for the bike, I would stay with the one I am most used to.

Good luck and HAVE FUN

Seriously considered staying in bed, but instead got up and really enjoyed it. Twas in the mid 30s and rainy for the bike, but no wind and rain stopped for the run. Had a great time, in part because I decided to screw my transition times, really dry off and put dry clothes on for both the bike and run. So much nicer.
