Don't forget that spot right above your tri shorts.  When you are in aero, your bike/tri top will tend to pull up.  I was going to have my wife post pics of my purplish-red burn, but it turns out to be lower than my back, and more in the plumber's crack area.

Learn from my mistake!

I'm glad you posted that.  Last summer that happened to me.  I still have a discolored band on my lower back from riding for about an hour.  I am naturally quite pale and am serious about sun protection.  This area had not been exposed at all so I had blisters in that area.

Hope you feel better soon.  Sunburns really hurt.

2x

Also, if you have a shaved head (short hair, or no hair) and are out, make sure to spray the top of your head. I am dealing with a fried head after this weekend.

This is part of the reason I'll be training in biking kit this year.  Bibs and a jersey will keep this from happening.

Precisely why I chose bibs for IMCdA last year.  Turned out to be 60F and overcast so I would have been good either way.  (I know, it's easy to burn even on cool, overcast days too... )

I have a permanent sliver of tan on my lower back.......NONE of my bike jerseys are long enough and there is always a space between my shorts and top that gets exposed to the sun.

I did 3.5 hour brick sunday & wore what I plan to wear in my 70.3 in 3 weeks and put suntan lotion on and as I was about to leave had my 11 year old get that spot really well. I leaned over and told her to be generous. I have the strangest looking tan sliver.

Good reminder!

I completely forgot about the slots for airflow in my helmet. Now I have strange patterned sunburn on the top of my head.

Cant wait for the leaves to come in so Ill be in the shade 90% of the time.

And if you spend 9-11 hours a week in an outdoor pool... there's no such thing as "waterproof sunblock". Get out at the halfway point and re-apply.

Mike, I'm just disturbed that you are riding around with plumbers butt for extended periods of time.  I'm glad I wasn't drafting off you

You and I both!  I have two days of stubble up there because I was afraid to shave the sunburn.

Based on your photo,  I would guess that sliver is about 8-10 inches high and wraps all the way around to the front

I wore two braids in my hair for a hike a few weeks ago... burnt my part, right down the middle on top of my head.  Not fun.

Yeah. I wore supersport superwater/supersweatproof sunblock last week at the beach and got FRIED (and even without sunblock I don't usually fry). Couldn't wear a bra or pants (had to wear a very light skirt or sarong) for two days. I now look like a hyena as extremely dark/burnt skin is peeling off, leaving quite light skin patches underneath.
