I might be adding this event to the calendar.  I have to be on the west side of the state that Sunday (day after the race) to pick my daughter up from camp and am always looking for a reason to try something new.  If you've done it, the bike map look as though I'd be better off on a road bike, than a tri bike due to the hills and turns, is this correct?  I'd also appreciate any other race info.  My wife has some family right around that area, so we'd have a cheap place to stay too.

THANKS!!!

Bumping this up as I just made it "official" that I will be racing this in August.  Re-asking my question about what bike to bring.  Is the bike course suited for a tri-bike, or would the hills and turns be better attacked by a road bike?

I'm planning on this one too. I haven't done this tri before, but I live on Sherman Lake. i can't comment on how suitable the course would be for a tri bike, but If you guys want to come out and do a course run through before August I would be glad to host.

Awesome.  I should have a meeting or 2 over in Kzoo before then and will get you a note when I am heading over to see if we can get in a run through!

Tri or road bike all the way. You can do it on a mntn bike without issue but if you have the choice, bring the speed. I'm on the race committee and have also done the course quite a few times. Pretty good road conditions for a rural setting.

Don't forget my new Double Time Tri nearby on June 12.

Mike, my schedule hasn't worked out for a dry run.  Have you had a chance to ride & run the course?  If so, any thoughts?  Hills?

Jim, I might have missed this on your website.  Is it an on the beach or in the water start (and any thoughts on wave sizes)?  Glad you are gathering back the swim caps!

The bike course has a few hills, the biggest one is just as you turn right on to G Ave from 39th St. I'm not sure about the run course, although I hear it goes through my front yard.

I will have a blue tent set up near the finish line.  Feel free to make it your home-base, or at least come by and say hello!

Just packet picked up & drove the bike course. Looks to be a very well organized event, great shirt too. I am a little concerned over the bike course. It is rough in spots on both 39th & 37th and there are potholes marked with spray paint. I think they'll be hard to spot in aero on the tri bike. Might have to back things down a bit on the bike.
