Subject: giving blood recovery
Yesterday I perfomed my duty and gave a little bit of myself up for others. Now back to me,me,me. I was worthless last night when I tried to run....probably a little too soon for that but it was on my schedule. How long should it take to recover from giving up a pint of the red stuff???

Not sure about the official answer, but just be careful!

I had a bad experience after giving blood last time...I was a total klutz for 24hrs afterwards. I even tried running the day after and ended up falling (and a nice scrape on my cheek to show for it!).

I've had the same feeling after giving blood. It just took too much out of me and the last time I guess I tried too much too soon and passed out. I don't do it anymore.

Your body will replace the blood within three days. Fluid intake should balance your system in less than 20 minutes. So give it a day before you try to go hard again. The effects of blood donation on performance is a little longer term - 7 - 10 days. This is a good little article on it:
