Hey everyone,
Been forever since I have been around. Too busy with life and training, but just realized that SheRox Tri is right around the corner so I better get serious in figuring things out :-)!
First...is anyone here doing this race? My usual racing buddy isn't doing many races this year so I would love to meet up with anyone before/after the event!
Second - for those that have done the Splash n Dashes this spring...how is the water in TTL...what is the condition? I have heard conflicting information regarding the high flow rate, low temp due to all the water coming in from up North and am a bit freaked out. Any info would be great!
Seems like forever since my last race and I am getting excited to get the season started!
Also thinking about signing up for Tempe Int'l...good/bad race.
Thanks a mil and look forward to training/racing with some of you soon!

Hi Susan. I raced SheRox last year and it was a lot of fun, you can check out the race report as I probably forget a lot. You get great schwag and the food and prizes were awesome! I was planning on doing it again this year but saturdays are tough for me because of my kids sports. I will be doing Tempe International. I like that race, has kind of a big race feel with the club competition. The course is a typical Tempe race- just like Nathans or a shorter version of Soma. In fact, I think the Tempe sprint and Sherox use the same course.

Can't tell ya about the water in TTL, havent been in there since November

Hope to see you out at the races!

I've been down by the TTL every week and it looks like they're constantly dumping water out.  If you want to keep track of the temp, check out http://www.tempe.gov/wx/townlake.aspx.

Current temp is 62 degrees.

I'm also racing She Rox and Tempe Int (olympic distance - my first race at this distance).  I know Javamom from real life (a long time ago when our junior high sons were in kindergarten together) and am hoping to meet up with her to say hi!Laughing

I did Splash n Dash a couple weeks ago. The water was chilly, but not uncomfortable if you had a wetsuit.

Still the same ole Tempe Town Lake quality of water... dirty, mirky, and floating dead fish... jk it's not that bad.

Hello there! I'm signed up for SheRox too. I signed up for their free mentor program. Part of the program is a swim clinic tomorrow afternoon. It is close to the same time as the splash n' dash but it is free! (you just have to pay for a $10 USAT day pass) If you are interested just PM me and I will get you the e-mail of the mentor group.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do already get the emails for the training clinics. unfortunately due to family schedule conflicts etc, I haven't been able to make any of them, including the ones this week (son's baseball schedule is crazy!). Bummer! I went to the SnD series last year and they were a blast! I need to get some practice in my wetsuit! May have to drag it to the pool with me (and look oh so styling!) good luck with your training!!

I am super excited- I think I might be able to race SheRox. I'll just have to HTFU so I can get out of there and back home to get the older kid to soccer

I'm bummed that i am missing the S & D this week though, I need the OWS practice! But 2 races in TTL this spring will be plenty!

Oh great, Sally is in my age group so now there is no way I can place! Ha ha ha ha...j/k, can't wait to see you there! Yeah, no doubt, you are so fast you will have time to clean the slime off before going to soccer! We are skipping my son's baseball game entirely so the whole family can be there.
My thoughts exactly Sally, all 4 of my races this year are in TTL...Sherox, Tempe Internat'l, Nathans and SOMA...
This will be my first time in the lake with a wetsuit so I am looking forward to it!

Those are the same races I'm doing as well!  I'm in the 40-44 age group, so hopefully you all are either younger and faster or older and faster!Tongue out

LOL - probably younger and slower...so no worries! in the 35-39 age group and just looking to have a good time and maybe do a tad better than Nathan's last year - we will see! As the date gets a bit closer we should exchange info and meet up! Can't wait to meet everyone and be a bit more involved with the training groups here in the next few months!
