Subject: First 24 Hour Ultra This Weekend!
I have my first 24hr Ultra this weekend in Chester, SC.  It is a 10 mile loop on hiking/horse trails.  I am running it with my little brother, this is the first race we have been able to do together.  Since my brother and I have slightly different running endurance/pace we will not be blowing the doors off our mileage but it should still be fun.  I would love to hit 70 miles in "honor" or our 70.3 we will be racing in 5 weeks!!  I love the idea of a "timed" ultra, it really takes the pressure off and I think it will be a fun relaxing day.

Good luck to you and your brother.  I had an awesome experience at my 24 hour.  It's a different mental thought processes when you have a time limit as compared to a distance.  I really enjoyed the idea of "run until you can't run anymore", with the distance you cover being secondary.

Enjoy it, take a little camera with you for the first few laps and get some good pictures!

Good luck and enjoy it.  There is something special about doing an event with a family member.

I haven't gotten my head around the idea of a timed event vs distance, am anxious to see the race report.

Hey, good luck this weekend, will be anxious to see the race report.  Sounds cool that you are doing it with your brother, as you both should have some nice moral support!!

It was awesome!  Race report later....too sore and tired at the moment.

In short...

- 50 miles completed (after that me feet felt like someone had repeatedly hit them with a hammer)
- Very hilly and technical course (Way more climbing and decending then I thought possible for the area plus rough footing) 
- Great experience, Great people, and Great food Smile

Thanks, I'll get that RR up soon.  Obviously at 50 miles I did not cover the full 24 hours.  We ended up putting our feet up at about the 17 hour mark.  The course was really tough, I can usually run 50 miles in 12-14 hours if that tells you anything.  Probably could have kept going but with IMFL 70.3 coming up in a few weeks I didn't want to over do it.
