Subject: Chlorine rash???
So, I have these funny little rashes popping up on my body. They are small, the size of a fingernail or smaller, and they don't itch or cause pain. My husband thinks it may be due to the chlorine...so I'm wondering if anyone else knows what I'm talking about? They aren't annoying at all, but I'm just waiting for the day when one of them pops up on my nose or something.

well, I guess the more telling question is WHERE the rash is...

If you get a rash/red marks in your underarms and you've been doing a lot of breaststroke, then blame the stroke, not the water...

and of course, if the chlorine would be the culprit -- make sure you shower off the water before leaving the pool! (didn't mention this in your post, but it's a logical answer, methinks)

You might want to get checked for a fungus like ringworm.  I had a case last fall - it doesn't itch much, but it is persistent. It'll clear up quickly with the right medicine. <disclaimer I'm not a doctor yadda, yadda, yadda >

It's just a little tiny thing on my upper arms (not armpits) and there's one on my thigh, too....ringworm, gross. But I guess it's a possibility. I think ringworm rashes were a little larger? These are pretty small...

I would get checked for mono, I had a swimmer friend awhile back that would break out in the pool at practice, turns out she had mono and the combo of pool and training, made her break out.
Or it could be suit burn, if its near where your suit and skin meet, try to get the rash guard, that might help

A few solutions:
a. Get some chlorine specific soap. http://www.allswim.com/chlor-off.html
b.try antibacterial wash (unless the rash is caused from irritation, which will cause more rash)
c. The pool is to blame. In a pool i swam in a while back all the time, there turned out to be a skin and hair eating bacteria in it and we washed down with antibacterial soap every day because the pool maint. guy woulndt fix it. We ended up calling health services.)

Gross. So it's either mono or a flesh eating bacteria. Grreaat.
I've noticed these little things popping up more and more these days and I'm also spending more time in the pool. However, I train in the same pool as several olympic athletes (it's in Boulder, after all...) Maybe I'll go to the doc just to make sure it's not a nasty fungus or something.

If its the chlorine you could moisturise before you get in the pool a thick moisturiser to protect your skin. Then make sure you shower as soon as you get out of the pool and then moisturise afterwards.

However it could possibly be something else in the water at the pool.  I'd get the pool people to check their levels of chlorine to check they are right in case it is some other bacteria that could be there if the levels aren't right.

Thats just my thoughts.
