I have noticed several threads about eating and training. Do you eat before or after workouts? and such. I would like to recomend a book that may be very helpful, it has for me.

"Optimal Muscle Performance and Recovery" by Edmund R. Burke, Ph.D.

I have learned a great deal about my body, why and how it responds the way it does to training and eating. I hope that it clears up many questions for you, and gives you tools to train with. Also it explains about rest periods while training.

Thanks for sharing nogills. I have just started reading "Going Long". And although I'm not planning on an ironman event anytime soon, it has been VERY useful, interesting and informative! I have also recently purchased "Sports Nutrition for the Endurance Athlete". Saving that for my vacation which starts Sunday. :-)
