Subject: Changing Clothes During Transition
Normally during half ironman/ironman races is there a place to change clothes, say, after the swim to change into your running shorts? I've never done a half ironman/ironman. I have a friend who's doing Portugal half ironman and wants to know if she can change into her running bra after the swim (if there's a place).
Thanks.

I've never seen a changing tent for a half - only an IM.

can't answer your question about the changing tent but this reminded me about the first time i specatated at a triathlon back in the 80s.  It was an olympic before wetsuits and the trisuits you see today.  It was very common that many triatletes (male and female) just changed everything in the transition area...no tents.  That's what sparked my interest from running to triathlon!

That would get you a DQ today.

Thanks for your inputs. That's exactly what I thought. She'll just have to figure something out if she wants to wear that running bra that bad. Here here in Europe people aren't a bit shy about changing in front of everyone. I see it quite often.
Thanks again!

IM70/3NO this past weekend had changing tents. It's going to vary from race to race, have her check with her spcific RD.

I would probably bank on an IM having tents.  Not so much if it's an HIM (unless there is an IM going on as well, like Silverman).

Best thing to do is look on the race website for race info.  Worst case, contact the RD.

Definitely yes for the Ironman branded full distance events.  Likely for independent iron distance races.  I haven't seen any at the half iron distance races I've done (including one "IM 70.3" branded event).

There have not been changing tents any time that I've done the Austin 70.3 (Longhorn) but, as has been said, I would check with the RD.  If enough people ask, they may put them in.

I've seen the same done. Some people have VERY little shame.

What's so  shameful about a naked body?

Tell your friend that most women wear their sports bra under their tri-top and just wear it for the whole race. You want to make certain the bra doesn't contain any cotton (which doesn't dry quickly, and will sag when wet.) I find that my bra is usually dry within 10 minutes of being on the bike, and then it's soaked with sweat after another 15 minutes!

There really isn't any need to change anything other than to take the wetsuit off.  A tri suit will take you from start to finish with no problems.
