Okay, so I'm sure this is a silly question. But when you get your number markings the morning of your tri does having hairy legs or lots of tattoos goof up the markings? I mean you won't see them on my upper arms due to tattoos, so what do we do?????

Ideas...thought???

Thanks.

shaving helps eliminate the hair;  They always put the numbers over the tatoos.  stays consistant with the other racers and numbers are in other locations.

I have hairy legs and the marking shows up well.

depending on tats, they try to mark around them (at least on me)...however, if you are full-sleeved or have no space on your shoulders, they will just mark on them....not much choice.  Unless you are a Wookie, hairy legs are no problem.

I've done body marking at a number of races from Olys to IMs.

I had one guy who had so much hair on his legs it was impossible to get numbers to show as not much of his skin was showing. I was a bit flustered about what to do...did my best but you couldn't read his numbers.

It would have been nice if he had shaved but guess that wasn't his thing.

Did he arrive with Han Solo or Ann Darrow?

I have tattoos on both my upper arms and they're pretty bright, so hopefully they can mark around them. I have my first tri on Sunday, so I guess I'll find out then.

To be honest, one of the reasons I shave is because I'm self conscious about the body-markers having to write on my hairly calves. I bodymarked at a race once and it was a little skeevy for me--I don't want to impose that one anyone else.

I think it is funny when you lift your shirt and they see a big ol tattoo and don't really know where to mark. It does not make sense to write over the tattoo but they always start to but I tell them to just write it lower around my elbow and forearm
