Comments: The goal for this run was pacing. I wanted to hold back with 7:30 miles for the first 4 miles, then average 7:40s for the next 6 and 7:15s for the final 5k. Actually, I wanted to run the last 5k like I would a standalone 5k. The idea was to feel the pain as if it was a 5k, rather than the tail end of a slower half. This mental exercise worked better than trying to hit my paces. What would you do differently?: Not stay out until 1:00am the night before. Post race
Warm down: Walked to the car. What limited your ability to perform faster: We actually went fishing the night before the race until 1:00am so I wasn't quite up to it today. Also have had a chest cold for the last 10 days. Last updated: 2010-01-11 12:00 AM

This is a traditional event for my brother and I who run the race and then fish the opener with my dad.
The race begins at 10:00am so slept in, ate a pancake breakfast and drove to the park at 9:00am.
Warmed up with a slow 10 minute run with a few pickups.
