WOOHOO!  Took the bike outside for the first time this year!  What an awesome ride.....Mother Nature's Prozac!  It is now 58 degrees but there is a chilly wind blowing.  I took the long way to the Y (HA, by long I mean 6 instead of 3 miles), swam for a bit, then rode home.  I don't know if I'm in a hurry to do that again, but I know I do want to ride some more.  Had to reign it in for today tho, I am not going to overdo it this early in the year.

way to go mom!

Our weather has been good here lately and I'm glad - I hate doing the indoor thing on the bike.

Curb your enthusiasm - don't overtrain.  Take heart, soon everyday will bring even better weather than today!

I cant imagine you poor folks living up north who are just getting to 58 and just now getting outside. 58 and I'd be whining its cold outside. I know I know "We have seasons" well lucky you I'll take the sunshine

Congrats on hitting the pavement. Watch out for those snowbirds on their way home.

Have some cold rides in - but us here northerners really know ho to enjoy an outdoor ride after a long, cold winter! Been out checking the buds on my maple tree - I'm sure they are at least 1mm bigger than two days ago.

I am going to borrow Ellens thread. Today I did my first outdoor ride of the year. It was 10 miles in  aboutb45 minutes. There was a beautiful sunny sky today but a bit chilly with a strong wind. Headed out into the wind. Was doing about 12 miles an hour was going between 17 and 18 on the way back. That is it I am have to get a job so I can get a new road bike. I lifted a specialized allez at the bike shop today, the thing felt as light as my bowling ball. The hybrid I have is pretty heavy. I am also going to get more strict on my diet. I did not expect to be averaging the 26mph I do on the stationary but would still like to be averaging 17 to 18 for the whole ride on the bike I have now. I will be doing most of my bike training outdoors now except on wet days.

Kevin, I have the Specialized Allez and it is an awesome bike. I was amazed at it's responsiveness all over again yesterday, as that is something you cannot judge on a trainer.

Plunk down the cash, you won't regret it.

58 degrees! Aaaccccckkkkkkk....it's minus 6 blinking degrees here in the silly nation's capital!!!! I HATE WINTER! I HATE A COLD WINTRY SPRING! I WANT SOME WARMTH!!! I can take 40 below zero in January and February with the wind blowing through the little hole in my head but I cannot stand a cold April...it is just too too darned depressing. I feel like a caveman sealed in an icy cave! Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggg!!!!

Don't they have some sort of Canadian "early bird" triathlon you could enter, you know, kinda blow the cobwebs out? Maybe a "Drive Sled Dog / Shoot The Puck / Drink The Beer" event?
