Triathletes struck and killed in Quebec

So sad.

I'm not sure what's scarier about this article: the photo of the mangled bikes on the road, or the awful comments made with complete disregard to the lives lost.

Wow.  The comments in that article are way overboard.  Who knew Canadians had such hostility?

The pictures alone strike it very hard.  Very sad.
My condolences go out to the families.

Horrible news, feel awful to those who died..

It sounds like a homocide to me.  Negligent homicide or aggravated.  The police can choose.

Hitting one rider might be an accident.

Hitting two or more is at a minimum negligent.

Some of those comments are sickening!! people have absolutely no respect! It's a tragic accident and its horrible that us cyclists have to be scared for our lives while out on the road

I agree. I had to stop reading the comments. These are human beings sharing the road. I don't know why it is so difficult for some people to understand that and have some empathy in all driving conditions.

The whole situation is tragic and my heart goes out to the triathletes, the families and friends of those who lost their lives, and even to the driver and his family because he has to live with what happened.

This is very tragic.  I also can't believe some of the comments.  I always find these stories interesting because if it had been pedestrians or another car you typically wouldn't see such comments.  I once had a discussion with a hard set advocate against sharing the road why he felt that way, and other than the typical safety responses, he said it basically boiled down to that cyclists, by their very nature, are seen by drivers as being from the "holier-than-thou" crowd.  Even more so than Prius owners.  When cyclists argue they need to share the road it's seen as us waving our fitness, motivation, and expensive gear in their faces, and many people just don't like it.
