Rockfalls95 - 2010-06-26 2:37 PM Congrats to Ray on his medal and congrats to all the finishers...Will be on the run course tomorrow am volunteering. Look for a shorty with the Tryforce Team!

Too funny!  Just dawned on me - I think I was speaking to you in the line up for the swim. I was bib 156!!  Who knew we were both on BT!  Hope you had a good race - nice chatting with you!

Rockfalls95 - 2010-06-26 2:37 PM Water was warm! Don't need the suit!
I wore mine after all.  Wasn't feeling hot this morning and decided I needed all the help I could get.  Water was nice though. Hope everyone had a great race!  Some pretty fast people out there today!!

I had a great time. It was my first Triathlon at Welland and I'm hooked on the location. I loved the swim - the water was clean, calm and the shore was always close by. I swam only in my wetsuit bottoms (its a 2-piece wetsuit) and was plenty warm. I swam my second best pace ever.
The bike course was fast. I rode my fastest average speed ever. The run - uhhh, everyone knows the run is not really an important part of triathlon Tongue out

It was good to see Corey - good race man. We always seem to finish within a minute of each other.

You had a crazy fast bike ride!  Good for you!!  Bopper was there too and he was speedy.
I need to attach a rocket to my bike to keep up with you boys!!

It is funny! I did not realize it was you either! It was me, bib 157! Such a small world! You looked like you were hammering it on the bike! Great job! According to the results on my watch: exceeded my expectations on the swim but did very poorly on the bike so that is what I'm going to work on next! Run was good! Great job Kim!

I did the duathlon & had my best performance so far.  Did 25 mins on both 5ks, and averaged 34.2 kph on the bike, even after losing a minute because I turned around looking for my Garmin that popped off my quick release...uggh..

The weather was perfect also.

Holy crap was it hot out there today!  i did manage to stay cooler on the run than Peterborough 3 years ago and took 18 minutes off my Half IM time, but man!  The run was brutal.  There were so many people walking...

I was looking out for you but did not notice, did not know your name or bib number. I was at the first water station on the island. Just before 13km after the turn around point. Glad you had a great time but we did feel for the athletes on the course today, it was really hot and humid! Great job!

Did you end up volunteering later than 12?  I went through that water stop around 12:35 or so on my way out.  If you stayed at that stop longer, I came back through on the way back near one of the triforce girls and the aid station were all cheering for her - I was right ahead of her.  can't remember the name, but she was running with a funny gait.

was still there till 2:30, too much to do to leave them...That Girl was one of ours, that was her first 1/2 Im and only started doing tris last summer! We were so proud of her!!! That means you had a fabulous race! Congrats!

At that time I was picking up cups past the station towards the finish line, I was mostly walking runners to the fence to get them running again...Too bad I did not know who you were, I would have run a bit with you!

I think you may have actually talked to me.  I was putting ice down my shorts and someone commented at that aid station (past the aid station) about not wanting to lose the ice.

Finished in 6:14.  I'm very happy with the results!  Just wish it was a little cooler!

That was a perfect day for racing, I really like that course as well.  Super happy with my race, paces in each discipline were all faster than Woodstock, which was a much shorter race.

Mark - I fully admit to using you as a rabbit.  I was a little discouraged after the swim seeing you running up the path to T1 ahead of me knowing you'd bury me on the bike.  I had the best run I could with my current fitness, how funny we ended up right next to each other in the results.

I'm trying not to let the 16/20 in my AG after having a great race bother me, can't expect much after getting off the couch and starting to train in April.

Highly recommend the race, although I hear the Half IM the next day was much hotter.

Hey Mark... I didn't know you were there... I would have looked for ya!! I decided to come last second and that's how the whole day worked out... last minute sign up... only 5 minutes to set up transition... and then just rushed the rest of the day... except on the run which I couldn't have rushed if I had tried.

Hey Kevin!
Great to hear you had a good race. It looks like you're still kicking butt on the bike.
Let me know if you are ever up for another training ride, though it still looks like I've got some ways to go to keep up with you.
