"Thumb's width between toe & shoe end... "

I keep reading this on line. Of course, it has not been vetted by the BT forum gang so I'm not sure I can live by it. Good starting point for a properly fitted running shoe?

Don't know about you but my feet swell up after about 1/2 hour of running (more obvious in hotter days).  If my shoes fit snug it would become very uncomfortable int he middle of the run.  I would alway wear something that is slightly larger.

I'm on board w/your observation. My feet measure 11, but I would normally wear an 11.5. I found a pair of Keyano 15's (last year's) for half the price. With the 12's, I have that thumb width thing going on. Wondering if 12's would be ok. Pointing to the 12's being ok is the FACT that my feet are never going to win a beauty contest due to my nasty beat-up nails--maybe 11.5's have been too small?
