Well I hear that exercise first thing in the morning keeps your metabolism moving and helps with weight loss goals. There how is that?

Ummmm....well, I really appreciate that, but I was thinking more along the lines of:

GET YOUR LAZY BUTT OUT OF BED!  GO SWIM YOU LAZY IOWAN!  YOU'RE GOING TO LET THE TEAM DOWN IF YOU DON'T GET OUT THERE!

That sort of thing.  You guys are WAY too nice!  Although I do like Kepola's "superior attitude to co-workers" thing........

Ok, you're right! Our team name is NOT Team Nice.  So.... Tania, since I like to feel superior, I propose a friendly teammate challenge between you and me. I am going for an early morning swim tomorrow, Wednesday.  I am also planning at least 3 early morning swims next week.  Care to join me in this goal or are you going to wuss out?     How's that?

Subject: mini Brick before I fly (for 24 hours) okay?
So I got in all my minutes today, even though I had a dance performance, and was busy getting ready for Liberia. I can't let my team down!! But I'm still behind my plan for this week by 35 min bike (gym kicked me out) and 15 minute run (forgot to drink water all day - severely dehydrated).

But, I'm thinking since I didn't plan anything for the day I fly out (this Saturday) I could catch-up on the minutes as a short brick, since I don't have to be at the airport until 11am. I will basically be on a plane or in an airport for 24 hours. Does anyone know if that's okay to exercise like that before you sit for 9 and 11 hours at a time? I know that you can get blood clots from sitting on those long flights. Will training make a difference?

Ya'll are all doing so great. I'm inspired by you. And hey, this team/guilt thing really works for me. I wouldn't have trained as much/hard the last few days if it hadn't been for the thought of letting ya'll down. Yay! the challenge is working. And, I feel great.

I've done it on lots of cross country drives with my family...get up early, run around whatever hotel we are in, drive all day.  I was a little stiff but ok...don't know about blood clots tho.

Can't you walk around a bit in the airport?

Yes, I'll walk as much as I can in airports at Chicago, Brussels, and Liberia, it's just the 3, 9, and 11 hours of sitting on the planes in between these airports, that I don't know about.

OK, so far so good - this mini challenge idea is awesome.  Way to get me motivated kepola, soopergirl and CindyK!  I got up and swam this morning - WOO HOO!  I have set my swim goal for the challenge as:

Wed (today) 1000

Friday 1000

M, W, F next week 1500 each day

M,W, F the following week 2000 each day for a grand total of 12,500 yards.

The last week of the month, of course, is RAGBRAI, and unless I decide to jump in a farm pond or something, there's no swimming for me, only biking.

So what do you say - since each of us will have a different schedule, each day we have committed to is one point, and we're shooting for 100%.  Each day we miss, we lose a point.  Losers have to put a signature line on their posts for a week or so,  something along the lines of "Tania is the swim QUEEN, and I can only some day hope to swim in her wake"

Of course, when we all make 100%, that won't be necessary, and we'll be kicking the other teams butts by then anyway, so it's win-win.  Your thoughts?

Tania I like that idea. I was in the pool for a good swim workout. Got in 1800 yds. Feeling pretty good. Hopefully I can catch up a little on the run this afternoon. Month is going good so far. But going have have to catch up on biking a little. Looks like tomorrows morning ride its going to be a little longer than expected.

Well I lose a point for this morning. I was up almost all night with my daughter. She was feeling asthmatic and icky all night. So I slept in this morning. Even showed up for work 2 hours late. But I am going after work. So my goals are this:
After work: 1000 M
Friday Morning: 1000M
Saturday:1000M
Sunday: 500M (I am going to do that 'personal tri" thing agian.) that was fun last sunday.

OK, let's keep it in our logs - I'm updating mine now to reflect 1 of 8 possible points.  A challenge within a challenge - how crazy are we?

PS - I noticed some in- fighting on Team Hussy.  They run way too hot and expend way too much energy trying to spew out witty smack talk -  translates into training hours lost, no doubt.  We can cross them off our list of potential threats to victory.

Attention Team Endless Whining - our smack-talk in no way correlates into lost training time.  However, worrying about how many points you got for making coffee this morning...I dunno...

I knew you'd be here.....in record time!  Very good job sensing my dis from way over there on Team Horsey.  I actually got my point for SWIMMING this morning.  According to the lack of any actual workout on your logs for this a.m, the coffee making points must belong to you.  No, no, that's OK, I know you're working your plan.... Tonight, you say?  Yes, me too.

Shooting rubber ducks in a barrel is alot easier.  Go back to Team Hobby Horse! Don't let the door smack you in the knee on the way out!

While you were still waking up, and getting your Froot Loops for breakfast, I was already at work.  I log my commuting mile when I get home, as I may decide to turn my normal ride into a 25-mile hammerfest.

Good try, though!  I'm actually surprised that an Ioweejan came up with any kind of smack talk...not impressed, just surprised...

Well, Clueless in CO, it's okay. You don't have to mask your lack of knowledge with "surprise." We understand, and accept everyone for who they are. We will still like you even if you don't know much about the world (or the US for that matter). While you try to figure it out, we'll just log in a few more miles. Don't think too hard, honey . . . it might make your head hurt, and then you wouldn't be able to ride your little trike home. uh oh.
