Happy Easter all.  Just wondering how others celebrate.  We actually started yesterday.  My kids are now 11 and 8 years old, and aren't too enthused anymore about Easter egg hunts.  So instead, we got tickets to see Stomp! yesterday.  It was playing at a theater in south Miami Beach and we followed it up with dinner at Lincoln Road Mall.  (FYI, South Beach is THE trendy place to be).  We had a great time.  Got home late, and hubby started early with a 12 mile run.  Then we all went to church.  After returning home, we decorated cupcakes instead of Easter eggs, and a little splashing around in the pool.  We all had a good time with that and we are soon to sit down to our spiral-sliced honey ham, sweet potatoes, and fresh veggies.  All in all, a great weekend!

Sharon

Sounds like a nice weekend Sharon. My wife and I got up early this a.m. to hide eggs for our girls. We got ready for church, they hunted the eggs. Went for the Easter breakfast at church, fruit and pancakes. The noon and evening are spent with both sides of the family and two more egg hunts!! The kids don't know what to think, not to mention buzzing from all the sugar. Tonight we will be finishing our packing to head to the Smoky Mountains in the morning for vacation. Going to do some hiking, trail running, and biking. ;-)

Had a really terrific Easter. I have an extremely large role in our church's Easter celebrations (Pastoral Intern & Elder of my church) so it's a busy time for me.

The service was really joyful and celebratory. Our church is a little post-modern and... different!

We started with music, followed by a drama, more music. We (the congregation) had formed a cross out of stripped tree branches on Good Friday, and this morning we adorned it with flowers. It was really beautiful. Then our pastor gave a sermon, followed by the most wonderful testimony of a friend of mine whose life is totally transformed. Then we have a BLOW OUT brunch together! Totally stuffed. Ugh...

Amazing.

Then my housemates and I hung out, then I went for a run (yay! probably burned off about a sixth of those brunch calories!)

But the thing that really topped my Easter off, is that my mother became a Christian about 10 days ago. Which, I declare, is a total miracle!! And I celebrated her baptism last weekend.

Happy Easter, indeed!!

Easter is not the same as my childhood. I got up, went for a bike ride at some trails halfway between me and my parents house. After the trails, I continued my drive to the folks for a nice big lunch where they made jokes to the dog about me not leaving any leftovers. The food was good, I had to keep eating. We chated about recent trips and events and fell asleep relaxing. I then went for a run before the trip to my Grandparents. More food and more socializing. I made some plans with cousins to go Mtn biking in the future. It was a good day. No work, good food, and seeing the family.

I hate to put a damper on things. But I'm an atheist. So I went for a 3 mile run and then settled down to watch the masters golf on t.v.

I am not a practicing religeous person but like to celebrate Easter nonetheless. Saturday shopped all day. Sunday went for a short bike ride...brrrr...and a long walk with my wife. Then, we spent most of the day preparing a large meal. Our daughter came in from Montreal and the tree of us ate a long leisurely meal together. Our son showed up for dinner after everything was put away and all the dishes were done. Was there ever any doubt!?!

No problem, Ian--some of my closest friends are atheists! I won't hold it against you... if you don't hold it against me! But I might have to hold the golf thing against you... yawn!

I was out of town for races, but met up with friends who had relocated there, and they invited me to go to church with them. I went with them and then made the 7 hr. drive home.
