I'm not worried about your training, you're a Hoss-babe!  I do worry about you leaving CO though - group get togethers won't be the same without your sarcastic wit...and Stanley playing with Tara...

Hoss teammates...it has been awful quiet around here...I suspect you are all out training and racing..so it is to be expected. I hope all of you are having a great weekend and getting closer to your goals so we will win. I'd like to hear what you all are up to though!

I had my longest run every in my life yesterday...a whopping 4.7 miles...I building up slowly...and today my longest ride since I was in 7th grade...37 miles. Felt good that I am getting better and going longer now.

Keep up the good work everyone!

The first of two races this month is done (see RR - Table Mountain Tri).  The next is the Boulder Peak on Sunday.  My goal for that tri is to finish with no injuries, have fun, and just enjoy the race.  I've knocked it down to a 'C' race - I just really want to assess my fitness on this one.  The A race is the end of August.

Tonight should be cool, relatively - only 84F for a high today.  Plan on some speedwork on the run, and possibly a LS ride after.

Congrats, Kathy!!!! That's great! Two distance PBs in two days!

Hey, who wants the mucho glamorous job of Captain-for-a-day?! I need to get some stuff done in the 3 hours I'm here, then it's off to pick up Eric from the airport! After that, I'll be a little.... preoccupied. So, if someone can collect everyone's data and send it to Renee, I'd be very grateful!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Here's what was posted in another thread about format.

Cavu9 - 2005-07-13 8:13 AM

1. Cavu9 - 0yds/69.35 miles/23.44miles
2. JohnnyKay - 10643meters/95.4 miles/22.8 miles
3. Jiggies - 0meters/0 miles/0 miles
4. Alpine87 - 0yds/187.14 miles/6.5 miles
5. Trimossy - 10600meters/34.55 miles/4 miles
6. Velasqu7 - 14600 yards/6.5 hours/17.4 miles
7. COgirl - 8700 yards/ 213.25 miles/ 31.67miles
8. grvfrog - 2500 yds/ 9 hours/ 2.9 hours
9. Norakraemer - 0/3.1 miles/8.55 miles

To All Captains:

I received some very nifty spreadsheets but I find this simple method of reporting the easiest to use when updating the master spreadsheet. Format is Team member (in same order they were first added to team roster and are on the spreadsheet), swim actual, bike actual and run actual.

FWIW. If you wanted to score points with the chief clerk here.

Hey team -- am am back on the training wagon this week. I had my 1/2 IM distance race on Saturday and I went for a 2000 m recovery swim today and felt fine. I am tired still, but not sore, so I am going to pick up my training schedule starting tomorrow so I can get in my numbers for the team by the end of the month.

How is everyone else doing on their numbers right now?

Mike

Oops!  I guess it's alright that our numbers got turned in BEFORE I finished today's workout.  As of 3:40pm, I have already topped my bike goals this month (YAY for commuting!), I suspect that my swim goals will be done by early next week, and the run goals by middle of next week.

Once I hit all those goals, I think I'm going to take a taper week...

I just posted the following numbers on the "Weekly Update" thread:

1. Kimj81: 2400yds/76.33miles/11.2miles

5. tupuppy: 100yds/63.17miles/14.7miles

There seems to be a problem with Kim's #s. I have her bike goal at 150 and her run goal at 480. I'm guessing these #s should be transposed? Also, last week her run total was at 90 miles; this week her run total is 11.2 miles. Don't know if I fat-fingered something last week but I wanted someone to check it before I just assume that's the problem.

Also, Ty's swim total for last week was 1000 yards. How did he lose 900 yards?

Thanks for checking on this.

Sorry. For the run, I'm at 3.5/8 hrs. For biking, I'm at 76.33/150. Ty is still at 1000 yds. Thanks, Renee!

Hi team Hoss mates!!

Tomorrow I leave with  my three youngest kids 10, 9 and 6 for a long endurance event...driving 1700 miles from MA to MN. I'll be off line and not working out for those three days...but will be in urgent need of a endorphin fix at my arrival at my parents cabin on an island. The island is  in a huge lake...great for swimming and running. I'm bringing my bike but will have to go to the mainland to ride. One of my subgoals for the month is to swim from the island to mainland and after doing that, try to got to the mainland and back again. While driving around I thought maybe I could swim around the island...it is 13 miles around, so I'd have to do it over the course of many days....it might have to be a goal for next summer. My good friend who was an excellant swimmer did it when she was in HS..I think it took 6 hours?

Don't worry I'll be making my goals...ahead of plan thus fair this month. Keep up the good work and if you need motivation let others know...lots of help here if needed!

Kathy

Team Hoss......what a odd name for your team. I always though that it was a old cowboy term (and it is, for a nearly dead horse) but I found this definition for your team that I also thought was very fitting:

"Hoss is a professional wrestling term. It is slang for a professional wrestler with little talent and poor workrate. Hosses are disliked by the smark community. They are hired mainly for their size."

Now, if we substitute "wrestling" for "triathlon", and "wrestler" for "triathlete", I think that we have found a match!

Bring it, chumps!

I'm calling you out, duckman!

Seriously, I am not sure if you learned to talk smack from Bob MacKenzie, but you are going to have to do better than that. At least insult my mother or something -- picking on our team name is weak at best. It would be like me saying, "Oh, the Oilers! Did you get that name from all the grease dripping out of your hair?"

Weak man, weak.

Interesting:  I found this definition for Hoss: Strong, intimidating, virile, as in Hoss Cartwright from Bonanza.  Also, any large, strong horse, capable of working much harder than a typical horse.

I see you finally fixed your avatar.  Did you use Photoshop?  Maybe you'll be able to get some side work, so you can pay off on the challenge after we crush your team.  On a more personal note, you'd better spend less time looking up definitions, and more time swimming.  Seems like you're a little behind on your swim totals.

Subject: GREAT NEWS (not involving GEICO...)

Teammates!  I have GREAT news - I have exceeded my bike goal for the month, I am 10.6 miles from my run goal, and 2250 yards from my swim goal.  That's like two more training runs, and one more swim!  Which is good, because today will be 100F, and *if* I run today, it'll be about 3-4 miles only.  I should be able to kill the swim distance before my race on Sunday.  Anything that I don't finish this week I know I'll be able to finish during next week's recovery week.

I already mentioned to several of you, but I didn't include race mileage in my goals, and I have NOT added race mileage to my accomplished goals.  So, even though Mr. Kausnfoot is 'calling you out, duckman', this little duck will NOT be taking any prisoners this month - just leaving destroyed goals behind...

Way to go, Joe. You are the man... I'm right on target for my swim and bike goals, but I think I'm going to come up short on my run goal. I'm following my training plan for my HIM in Clermont in October, and have been doing all my runs, but it looks like I'm only going to get to about 60 out of 70 miles. I guess I added wrong when I set my goal...very disappointing.

Just FYI, I've got 20 bike miles left.... cake. 4000yds left in the pool.... 2 sessions will knock that out. Four hours of running left (~3 after tonight's run)... 2 more hours of running scheduled for next week, so if I can do an hour water jogging, I can make it, but not sure I'll have the time (this is moving week!) I'll try my best, but in any case I'll be close!!!
